Losing my final 80 pounds and feelling great!

Hey everybody...
This must be the week of the (literally) Biggest Loser. I feel like crap!
I saw myself on one of those retail cameras that watch you as you shop. I look like a friggin pig! Here I thought that I was making progress and it doesn't seem to be adding up. I left the mall, went to the pizza place and just got home. Yup, I downed 5 slices of gooey cheese pie. Now I feel like total sh*t and am embarrased, depressed, all of the above. I hate what I've done and can't get that ugly fat guy image out of my head from the mall!!!
Damn

Damn, Dan!
First of all... (I wish that I had just eaten "a gooey cheese pie!" That sounds delicious!)
O.K. Now. Breathe.
Breathe.
[Repeat ad naseum.]
Tomorrow's another day.
Relax (Don't Do It) [sorry, necessary 80's humor]

I have started two new blogs, one to follow my running and a Quest to a Marathon at blog.262quest.com and one to follow my weight loss at blog.2big.org, please check them out.
I am an IT professional / Developer which means I sit in front of a computer most of the day. This means very little exercise and plenty of time to eat.
I decided at the first of the year that I was going to lose weight. I started by changing my eating habits and started walking.
I did so for about a month and then added some weight lifting and started to run a little bit.
I have so far lost 29 lbs in just over 3 months and would like to lose just over another 50 lbs by the end of the year.
I have started running quite a bit more and am training to run the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta on July 4th (10k)
I need all the encouragement I can get because to do this I am getting up every morning during the week at 4:30 to go running. With a wife and kids this is really the only time that I can consistently do what I need to do.
I am driven, but at times get a bit discouraged because I don't have anybody to work out with or run with.
All in All, I know I can do it, I just have to remember that when I don't do so well, it is in the past and what matters is going forward.

Dan - don't get down on yourself - I did that along the way as well - Just pick yourself back up and get back on that wagon. You will make progress, just realize it is slow and steady. Don't get discouraged, and if you see that image in your head remind yourself you are doing something about that and that will be a thing of the past.
I know it doesn't seem like you will ever get there now, but believe me - YOU WILL!!

I've been working in an IT position for the past 8 years, and I didn't get a lot of exercise. I'm changing that now with the help of Traineo. I'm looking for my 6 pack.. it's in there somewhere...

Quoting: misterlose I saw myself on one of those retail cameras that watch you as you shop. I look like a friggin pig! Here I thought that I was making progress and it doesn't seem to be adding up.
As my teenager says... chillax! I know exactly how you feel, but remember the next time you see yourself in one of those cameras, that the way you see yourself often takes much longer to change than the way others see you. Did that make sense? I often feel the same way... it's hard not to, with mirrors, cameras, etc. everywhere. You see more of yourself than others do any given day, so change is much harder to notice.
Just keep pluggin' away at the gym and the diet and you'll get to where you want to be. Oh, and next time you feel this way (because if you're anything like me, it WILL happen again) hit the gym instead of the gooey cheese pie. Let the dissatisfaction with your results motivate you to do better.
Good luck!

Yeah, I did the pizza thing yesterday. I went clothes shopping yesterday for some new clothes to wear during my interviews this week, and I don't know what it is, but the lighting or mirrors or something in those dressing rooms make you look twice as fat. I was completely disgusted in myself and ate pizza that night. It will be a constant struggle but we need to keep pushing on.

The skateboarder is via my 13 year old son. I am very computer challenged. I asked him to find a picture... this is what I got. Very fitting as I am leaping into better shape!!!

First of all, those store cameras are horrible..... truely!! They make Paris Hilton look bad.... every bulge is magnitized and they get you at such a bad angle.
My adorable little petite 7 year old caught herself in one and exclaimed "is that me.... it doesn't look like me" but she tested it out by waving her hand. It became like one of those distorted mirrors you find at amusement parks.
I really don't think the person you saw in the camera truely reflects the size and shape you actually are.......
At any rate, it seems like it was one of those "defining" moments and pizza seemed like the right thing to do...
Give yourself lots of grace and get back on it tomorrow!!

everyone above said it much better than i could have said it!!! dont give up dan. time is going to pass by anyway. it will only get worse if you dont stop the cycle now. I like this quote someone once told me, "dont let a lapse turn into a relapse." keep fighting this. it is worth it because you are worth it. i used to think i did too much damage to be able to reverse. it isnt true. i still have a long way to go but our bodies are amazing at recuperating and changing. it is worth the fight. you will feel so much better in the end. i always check those cameras out myself and im never happy with what i see even though im over 100 pounds lighter. it is so mental sometimes but if you know that you are doing the right things to help yourself, you will continue to get results and move in the right direction and be better off in the long run.

So what if you fucked up this one time. You'll probably do it again, we all mess up in varying levels. It's a learning experience to find the right diet and exercise.
You've made a lot of progress, and you know it takes work. Everyone needs a lasting memory to motivate them. Just remember that fat guy on the camera everytime you hit the pizza.
I'm not going to bore you with my story, but I've taken certain moments in my life and twisted them into motivation. It's worked great for me, and I continue to do that today.

WHEN will these stores GET that investing in skinny mirrors and flattering lighting will only increase the profit margin?
And:

Now Dan,
Tighten up those bootstraps, man and get back to your WORK, which will be all the more productive through your coming clean here and owning up.
USE YOUR FORCE.
And enjoy the new day.

Everybody messes up all the time. We are human. It's just part of the journey. And I totally understand when you say you feel like you've been working hard but haven't seen the results. I've been doing this thing for 5 weeks now, I've lost only 5 lbs, and my "fat jeans" are still too tight on me. Now if I think about it like that, it's a little depressing, but if on the other hand, I think about how I've started a good exercise routine, began good eating habits, I've lost 5 lbs which is my first mini-goal and as a result got my nails done last night, it seems a lot brighter. *Warning: cliche coming!* Look at the glass as half full not half empty. Haha Keep chugging along and focus on the positive. We can do this!!! And we're all here to support you!

I'm a plant enthusiast dedicated to eating whole, fresh foods. As for exercise, I regularly participate in: swimming, water aerobics, yoga, the elliptical machine, the stair stepper, running, and weight training. I try to switch up my routine a lot so that I don't get bored. My biggest obstacle to weight loss is eating when I'm lonely or sad, but I've started keeping a list on my fridge of other things I can do to occupy my time. So far it's really been helping!
Aside from health and fitness, I was married in December 2007 and am enjoying being married and decorating our apartment. I am currently finishing my last semester as an undergraduate, and hope to begin an English MA program Fall 2009. I love reading, quilting, cooking, hiking, swimming, decorating, gardening, and striving to protect the environment. I'm also really pleased that Barack Obama is going to be our next president.
Let me know if you need a motivator! Good luck in your health and fitness efforts!

What's up with the pizza? I wish I would of seen this forum yesterday afternoon, because yesterday night I over indulged a bit on pizza. I was down on myself for awhile, but I decided to get up early today and do some extra running. Mistakes = Motivation
