Just read about an interesting study over at msnbc.msn.com which can be linked to directly here.

Most interesting part is the "industry response" section at the bottom.

Note: I'm not saying I agree/disagree with what's written, so don't jump all over me.

I had never heard before that eating something sweet may prepare your body to receive large amounts of calories, but it's an interesting idea. Would be neat if they did some further studies on that concept.

I've read similar things over the past years, but it's not tied to "thinking" you're about to eat more calories. Researchers are studying the complex interactions between the artificial sweeteners and the synthesis of hormones within your body. Long story short, some of the compounds produced by digested artificial sweeteners can increase inflammation, which causes a corresponding rise in insulin levels.

Interesting read, would be curious to see what further research shows...
