Most of us look forward to Thanksgiving for a variety of reasons, family, football & friends top the list. Oh, did I forget food? Well over the last three years I have been able to keep from ruining all my hard work with a holiday pig-out. First, I plan on eating a big breakfast that morning after sleeping late. Next I will make sure that I am surrounded with safe munchies, ones that fit my nutrition plan. For me I am a low-carb guy, so celery & cream cheese, pork skins, and a few sugar free candies will keep me straight. Finally the coup de gras...the meal. Well we will have turkey, and ham, fresh cauliflower, a brocoli casserole, green beans, and will even have a slice of double fiber whole grain bread. For desert it will be a low-carb peanut butter cheesecake. Later that night I will have a protien shake, and will toss in a couple of sugar free chocolate chip cookies to get that cookies-n-cream thing going. How will you fare this thanksgiving? Good luck!!!

Mark

I plan on enjoying Thanksgiving in moderation. You can still enjoy all the foods you love without going overboard and killing my diet. A small slice of pumpkin pie tastes just as good as a large slice. You don't need to eat a mountain of food to enjoy Thanksgiving.

Wishing everyone good luck on "sticking with it" this Thanksgiving!

Ahhhhh yes! Thanksgiving.

I must say I am very much looking forward to it. I plan to have all my eating fun in one day. I think the important thing for me will be to make sure that I don't take a four day weekend from the gym. I plan to play football with the guys on Thursday and be sure to hit the gym Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Food-wise, however, I plan to hit it all - but like Brandon said...in moderation.

Good luck to you all, and let's not forget all that we have to be thankful for!

Jen

This year, I am going crazy with nontraditional side dishes! I'm cooking cornish game hens instead of turkey this year (juicier!) and the rest will be carefully concocted fruits and veggies...including ginger green beans, roasted sweet potatoes and apples, persimmon cranberry sauce, and a green leaf lettuce salad with feta and raisins. Definitely not by any means the classic Thanksgiving meal, but I figure we'll survive without stuffing and mashed potatoes...especially if we have such delicious AND nutritious alternatives!
Happy Turkey Day, Everyone!

I plan on getting up early and going for a ride. I hope to get in about thirty miles. That should set the day. As far as food goes, I plan on pretty much sticking to what I do everyday. I am on low carb so I plan on keeping it that way and no desert or maybe something low carb. I am also Type II Diabetic and I have to make sure I take care of that foremost. I control it solely by diet and exercise. Sometimes it is the thought of the Diabetes getting out of control that keeps me in control.

How bad is turkey? I already know that 90% of the dishes served on Thanksgiving are heavy.

I plan on having 4-5 oz of Turkey and Veggies. I may sneak in some a little bit of stuffing and cranberries... but that's it.

I am also going to work out hard for 2 hours tomorrow morning.

Hi everybody,
I will start by eating a salad with dressing on the side (but usually it's salt, pepper, olive oil and balsamic vinaigre) and then i'll drink a full glass of water whenever i'ld crave an extra slice of turkey or whatever forbidden dish there's on the table.
This is my technique, because once your stomach is filled with water there's no way you can indulge something else...
good luck everyone

AND DON'T HESITATE TO TELL GRANDMA "NO!"

I know I'm a bit late for Thanksgiving, but the same goes for Christmas / Hanukkah / Festivus / and other big family gatherings.

My G'ma, bless her silly heart, always said, "Oh, you hardly ate anything! Are you sure you don't want more?" She said this even after I nearly ate the table itself (you know...for fiber content).

In short, don't feel guilty about saying "no" and don't let G'ma or anyone else pressure you into eating more. If all else fails, you can try saying, "Would you like to me be around 20 years from now? If not, please keep asking me."

Yes, I agree Paul. The enablers tend to come out and tell us things us things that may lead us done a bad choice path.

This thanksgiving I heard - "You have been doing so well... you deserve to splurge some"

It is almost as if people wanted me to go back to the darkside and join them... I think that these people have this engrained image of me (a fatter me) and have difficulty adjusting to a 70 pound lighter version.

Holiday season is tough. Thanksgiving week i stopped losing but have started back again. Christmas week will be the same way. My family has the "too thin" comment they always use if i dont look like my normal plump self.
