5 Holiday Weight Gain Myths

1. Everyone gains at least 5 pounds over the holidays, so I may as well accept it.

2. I can take a “vacation” from my diet, because come January, I’ll go right back on it.

3. I’m going to fast all day, so I can eat all I want at the Holiday party this year.

4. I can’t diet when I go to someone’s house for dinner.

5. My family would miss it if I didn’t make the traditional favorites.

HAHA I was actually going to do the whole fasting before the holiday party but it's actually worse for you!! Cuz then your body is in starvation mode and you just hold onto everything in ... FAT!

And I did good I went to the gym this morning evening thought I was tempted not to because it's a "holiday"

Good post!!!!

I like the quote:

"Its not that important what you eat between Christmas and New Years, its what you eat between New Years and Christmas that counts."

I went to the gym this morning.

I personally like to save my calories for parties by eating things like celery and carrots all day. But if that's not possible I just watch what I eat at parties.

I'm pleased to report that I returned from my holidays a mere 100 grams heavier than when I left. And lemme tell ya, it was one TASTY affair. There's a lot to be said for "a little".

I think freezing one's fingernails off helps in the calorie usage too. We were outside o-plenty.

Hope everyone had a good 'n,

whats 100 grams equivalent too? i dont know what that means in terms of pounds? is that good or bad? regardless, it is too quick to know if you really gained or lost weight-your body needs a few days to metabolize everything. also, its the holidays so i hope you enjoyed whatever you had!

About an ounce and a half, Jen.

And YES, I enjoyed all I had profusely.

Jen-it's not hard when you love carrots.

My problem is that my family cooks so well that I tend to eat even though I'm not hungry (and they're not big on veggies that aren't smothered in oil).

I did pretty bad yesterday, and I'm not really feeling up to a workout today, but I'm eating light and I'm going to throw and extra mile into my run/walk tomorrow.

ok good minu!!!

Mikaela -workout tomorrow when you are feeling better- a day off is fine-give your body a days rest and get back into when you are feeling back up for it. its ok that you didnt do well for one day-the holidays are tough-try to get back on track right away and youll be fine!
