I am 29 years old and have grown passionate about fitness and health! Overall, I have lost and kept off a little over 40 pounds, and I have about 20 or so more that I would like to take off. This last year has been tough and distracting in many ways, and I am back to work now! I am revisiting Traineo, because this site and the people here were instrumental in helping me lose my original 40 pounds so I am back! I regret that because of time constraints I won't be able to be AS active in the forums as I used to, but I will certainly try to stay in there and reconnect with old friend as well as make new ones.
My fitness goals remain the same as before as I haven't achieved them yet: *GOAL 1 = 140 lbs Target Date = 7/31/08 Date Met = TBD CURRENT FITNESS GOALS: Run a 5K, improve flexibility enough to do the splits, be able to do 50 pushups in a row, be able to do a pull-up, learn to do a hand stand and then hand stand pushups. :)

I need some suggestions.
I recently saw a dietician who did a blood test on me to test for allergies, and it turned out that I was highly allergic to eggs and all dairy (whey). That pretty much threw my good protein for a loop, as I was enjoying my eggs and a protein shake almost daily.
I know that I could switch to soy, and I have replaced some of the protein with that, but I have also heard that having soy every day could have some repercussions as well. Anyone out there who can suggest another good protein source? Chicken and tuna gets boring after a while, and is not quite as convenient as the shakes and bars I was eating on the run. Anyone know of a good rice protein product maybe? I would love any tips! Thanks.

Fish, high protein pasta (carb options), soy milk is fine just not 10 litres a day ...

My weight has gone up and down repeatedly in the last few years. I managed to lose a lot of weight before getting married 2 years ago, but have since gained most of it back.
I hope to find new motivation on this site, and hopefully make some new friends. This time I want to lose weight and keep it off. I'm trying to not think of it as a diet, but as a change in lifestyle.

I agree with Nick - fish is my favorite source of protein!

Thanks guys! I like fish too, but I am kind of looking for things I can eat on the run too, because I am rarely home, and am always running. Since they don't sell sushi in vending machines yet, I am open to creative ideas.
Thanks again for the tips, I will definitely increase my fish intake at home to help make up for any deficiencies during the day.

Hi sweetie,
I've been allergic to dairy eggs and wheat plus being a vegetarian for 15 plus years and I wrote a book about it, www.thehappyvegan.com check it out and see if it helps. Also, if your looking for substitutions for your meals, I think my book could really help. If you have any specific questions feel free to email me at sarah@thehappyvegan.com Good luck!! Sarah

So, I am here because: 1. I want to get healthy, and 2. though i could care less what a scale says compared to how I feel, automatic complex number crunching/chart-keeping is oh-so-appealingly addictive to me, and might just keep me hooked! What I care most about in this journey is the prospect of living a long, healthy and active life. Getting there will probably be the best and most challenging gift I will ever give to myself. So, I need your help - remind me, motivate me, cheer me on...and if you're in need of the same motivation, I'll be happy to help!

If you like protein shakes, I know thre are rice protein powders out there in different flavors...I've never tried them personally (I have a whey brand that I like, and I've stuck with that), but I've seen some at the vitamin shoppe in different flavors - check out this link:
http://www.nutribiotic.com/riceprotein.htm
also, I recently discovered Luna Sunrise Bars (I'm not big on protein bars, but i really like these)...they have 8g protein and 5g fiber per bar, and make a really satisfying snack. It says on the package that it may contain traces of dairy, but they don't use source ingredients that contain dairy (so that may or may not work for you depending on how bad your allergies are).
Good luck! hope that helps!
