I used to be 266 freakin' pounds! Been 180 for 2 years now. Keeping it off by exercise and eating smart.

Don't do it!!!!
Okay, do it for like a week to get a sense of how many calories you're putting in your body. Then stop... It's evil...

I am a big fan of calorie counting. Another good resource is the Calorie King book.

I am a contractor for a monolithic IT firm. This translates into a lot of time spent sitting. I have always been a big guy, but I am tired of being obese so I am going to utilize the power of community to hold my feet to the fire to stay active.

The tip I have found that works the best for me is to keep a digital post-it note on my computer what I take in during the day.

I am 26 years old, I have always been a chubby girl. I am getting married in November 2007, I have a wonderful fiance. I am looking to become healthy and happy with myself before I marry this wonderful man. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks

Where can you get a digital post-it note? I can lose weight if I count calories. However my issues is how do I find out how many calories certain things I eat have in them.

Oh, what a long story. Here's the quick version: I'm 23 and after a history of bulimia and compulsive exercise, and subsequent 11 month break from exercise while recovering, it's time to get healthy. I am on a mission to be as happy and healthy as I was before all of that stuff happened.
My focus is on getting stronger, more energized, and generally healthy... without falling back into the calorie counting hell.

be careful with calorie counting! it can lead to major anxiety, guilt, etc. and sometimes more eating because you think to yourself "well, i'm below my goal, i can have a little more of x,y,z..." and you end up having eaten more than you would have otherwise. i think it's better just to eat lots of healthy things like fruits and veggies to get full.
but if you have to count...

www.nutritiondata.com -- nutritional analysis in terms of vitamins, etc, too!
and sticky notes...
