Just a random post on my part but I went to Costco yesterday, and went a bit nuts. Maybe it was the dieting for so long or my architecture project deadline getting to me, but I bought tons of junk food.

HOWEVER, I bought all small snack size (I love Halloween!) this way I can indulge in my yummy unhealthy treats but in a healthy fashion.

What I got:
60 cal French twist things (that are amazing and probably less calories than my mom's homemade ones)

snack size chips (about 150 cal per pack)

snack size chocolates (varying from 40-80 calories)

brownies (160 each but I only eat half a time)

and so there ways to enjoy your junk food but in moderation! Just get snack sizes. The only downfall is I don't think they sell this year round... the chips will last me like half a year cuz I don't eat it everyday.

And the chocolate will probably last me an entire year since there are 120 in there.. oh and I got Toblerone individual packed ones (45 cal each).

Okay, so after realizing what I bought, I know this isn't healthy but my point is to prove you can enjoy junk food and still diet. That's what I've been doing for 2 months now, but I just went a little overboard yesterday.

That's all!

I eat very healthy nutritious meals (3 meals) and half my snacks are what someone could call junk, and the other half is healthy (yogurt and fruits, nuts, etc.)

the problem with snack size snacks for ME is that i cant stop at 1. if i could then they would be a good option but it takes way more than 1 to satisfy me. i couldnt have the self-control to keep all of that around. if it works for you i think it is great.

I went to Wally's yesterday and picked myself up a LOT of those 100-cal packs of crackers, cookies, and even ice cream! So far I've really enjoyed them and one has been enough to satisfy me enough.

I love the cheetos 100 cal pack, when I have a big craving, I chomp that down. I eat it real quick but that actually seems to satisfy my sudden craving than eating it slow.

Have you tried the Reese's 100 cal pack? AMAZING. the variety really satisfies your want to indulge.

Like I said, the packs of chips I got are real chips but they're only 150 cal each so it's actually not bad.

I am with Jennifer, I also have no self control. Maybe I could have ONE 100 pack, but if I would have 3-4 different type (i.e., cookies, chips) of 100 packs laying around. All of a sudden, I have eaten 400 bad calories.

Congrats to you 2 on enjoying those. I don't want them around because they would slow me down from reaching my goals.

Weight Watchers has some pretty awesome snacks. Even though I don't do wight watchers, if it has their logo on it I know it's better than a regular snack.

I don't keep tempting treats in the house either. I figure if I want something bad enough, then I'll drag myself out to get it.

I'm also from the school of thought that if I'm going to eat something like dessert, then it's going to be worth it, not low-cal or whatever. I go for the best stuff I can get and share it with someone or a few people. Becoming more snobby about food and only eating the best I can get really does keep me from blowing it on less satisfying treats.

Ditto, Cindy. I don't indulge often, but when I do, it's gourmet all the way. Plus, there's usually no hi-fructose corn syrup in top shelf dessert items, or fine Belgian dark chocolate, for that matter.

Jess, it's great that the majority of your meals and snacks are healthy and wholesome. I see those 100 cal snack packs are everywhere, I guess portion control is the basic idea. The point I need to make is...those prepackaged, highly processed snacks are full of unpronounceable ingredients. I would not eat them every day.

How about putting together your own snack mix (nuts, cereals, dried fruits, etc., I bet we could get more good suggestions here) and preportion into ziplock bags? You can even stash some in the freezer and grab some on-the-go.

I totally concur, Amy.

It's downright freaky what's in labels these days, especially in bonbons 'n snacks 'n such.

I'll take oven-baked sea-salted, garlicy sweet potato chips over package tater-whatevers ANY DAY.

Mmmmm, a craving is settling in, I see...

To each their own, I guess.

No problemo, Nancy,

Just thinly slice up some peeled sweet potato(s), tossed them in a little extra virgin olive oil with sea salt and fresh black pepper, garlic powder, then place them on a baking sheet and bake on 'til they're nice and golden brown here and there.

THEY ARE AWWWWWWWESOME, and EASY--the perfect combo. The hardest part is not burning your mouth by not being able to wait for 'em to cool down!

Bon Ap,
