Is there any other way to get the nutrients that fish has? Because I really can't stand fish, especially where I live, where it's local custom to catch dirty fish and then deep fry em. Does anybody have any suggestions for someone who doesn't like fish but wants the nutrition that fish offers, or knows of any fish substitutes?

I'm not sure about foods that have every nutrient that fish has, but I eat eggs. The white part has lots of protein, and the yolk has fat(the good kind) and lots of omega3 fatty acids and vitamins. I have the same problem as you, and I get by just fine with lots of eggs.

take omega 3 pills?

there are omega 3 in like lots of stuff now. I have omega 3 bars, I think wheat germ has it too, there's also like omega 3 cookies, etc. Look around, go to a health store? I'm sure you'll find lots of stuff.

I don't know what else fish has other than omega 3 that's like a big deal..

You can get eggs that have increased omega 3 in them. Not all eggs contain a significant source of this. Flax seeds have more omega 3 than fish, but the form it is in is considered harder for the body to break down (as are all plant sources). Walnuts are good too. You also can get it from some beans and olive oil (very little and don't fry it). The easiest thing would be to do as Jess said and take fish oil pills, then eat what you want.

Don't forget Omega 6 when you buy pills! omega 3 and 6 are essential, your body can not synthesize it!

I would be the one to say of course, that I would say i eat meat wise 50% chicken and 50% fish... I'm kinda... a fish whore you could say, i would eat nothing but fish if i could afford all the kinds i would want

I will not eat fish at all anymore. I take a Rexall Heart Healty Flax, Fish Borage Oil capsule every morning with my multivitamin. This supplement has 400mg of Flaxseed oil, 400mg Essential oil blend (black currant oil, borage oil, and evening primrose oil), and 423mg Omega 3, 284mg Omega 6, with 92.4mg Omega 9. I've been using this capsule for about a year, and it seems to work as well as eating the fish I used to choke down.

I'm right there with you! I hate fish/seafood of all kind except shrimp. As some said before take flaxseed oil for the Omega-3 but don't use the pills, go pick up a bottle of the liquid flaxseed oil. The flaxseed pills are only around 500mg-1,000mg depending on what you buy. The liquid flaxseed oil has around 8,000mg per tablespoon and I take 2 tablespoons a day. You'd have to take 8-10 pills just to equal 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil.

The Spectrum Essentials brand I have found to be pretty good:
http://www.spectrumorganics.com/?id=59

You can find that brand at most health food stores but make sure it is refrigerated! I saw a bottle at a local health food store on the shelf and it clearly said on the label "keep refrigerated"!

I'm not a big fish eater...had Mahi-Mahi for dinner though.

Supplements for flax and omega3 are good, but nothing tops the real thing.

Though I love it because certain fish are really low-cal meaning I have an excuse to gorge myself on the veggies I eat with it.

Hate fish, with few exceptions. Loved swordfish too. I dig other seafood though!

I have the sneaking suspicion that regardless of what you supplement the fish for, you're not really going to get the total benefit you would if you were to just suck it up and eat the fish. :\ I'm trying to get the nerve up to do this myself, don't worry!

FYI
I was told if you get the fish oil vitamins, if they test really fishy you can refrigerate them so that they wont taste as fishy if you cant stand the taste.
