I ate a big lunch today =*( Sandwich which consists of Onion Roll, Roast Beef, Provolone Cheese, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Onions, Roasted Peppers, 1 Cup of Turkey Rice Soup, and some Potatoe Chips. I believe i am still under my 2000 Calories for the day.

Can I eat fruits throughout the rest of the day and be OK?

I do plan on exercising this afternoon.

You should be fine depending on the chips. Most chips are killers in the calories.

Sources vary, but to give you an idea:

A small serve (that tiny amount of chips in the paper packet) of McDonald's french fries is listed as being anywhere between 210 and 330 calories.

A 50g packet of crisps is about 350 Calories, depending on the brand.

Now the lunch you had sounds fairly hefty anyway. I'd cut out the chips. They may look small (and god knows they're certainly enticing!) but depending on the serving size, all things being equal, they could be contributing to anywhere between 1/2 and 2/3 of a pound of weight gain every week.

350 calories would be about 1/5 my daily calorie intake.

OK but thing is im still way below 2000 calories, had 150 for breakfast, at the most 600 lets say for lunch and no dinner yet =\\

but good point, ima start cutting out the chips, greasy crap

You should be fine so long as 2000 calories is truly what you would expend in a day.

It is simple math. Eat more than you expend... you gain wait.

It you are still worried, i would cut back to 1500 cals for the next couple of days.

So can I eat whatever I want as long as I keep my calories under 2000? Or do I have to bring a calculator with me everywhere accounting calories before I have a meal.

On another note =\. It's really hard turning down my girlfriends prepared dinners. Same thing for my Mothers. How do you guys manage being the only person in a household trying to lose weight. Everyone eating like monsters and yet fit and you holding back not to explode. I blame alcohol for killing my metabolism. I'm 215 and trying to get to 190 180. Hopefully when I start jogging I'll shed some pounds. I'll need all the help in the world.

I hear you on the 'mother' thing - I rarely see mine, but whenever she's visiting/I see her, she feeds me as if I'm never eating again, and I can't stand it - she'll gets really offended/upset if I don't eat everything she presents, and she usually prepares enough food to feed 8 people, when there are maybe three people for dinner, and looks to me to eat it all! (hope she doesn't read this...!)

Before each meal drink a glass or two of water. That will help you get full faster. Exert control, you have it, you just might feel uncomfortable using it. Monitor your inflow and just be conscious of what you are doing. Don't shirk the responsibilities you have to yourself for others. Sometimes it is good to be selfish and this is a place where you need to be you. Don't let others override.

You can eat what ever you want but that may be a choice that has negative consequences... it is all about choice... and the consequences thereafter.

Not all calories are created equally... some will bring toxins into your body... others are actually nutritous and allow you to have lots of energy.

I have learned that jogging and other physical acitivity promotes good health but does not allow you to lose weight per se. Personally, I find Physical activity rewarding. I am acutally enjoying it now that I have lost 43 pounds in 8 weeks.

Again, when you are in weight lose mode... it is more important to limit your caloric intake. You cannot have a lot of calories and expect to burn it off easily with physical acitivity.

In terms of Mom and your GF... I would let them know about your goals and ask them to support you with your program. I have done this with my wife and she has been living more healthy and has also lost weight and has become more healthy.

You goal is very achievable and I wish you wellness.

I would never recommend somebody on a diet to eat fruit throughout the day. Fruits are not suitable IMO for fat loss, they are laden with fructose sugars. The 'eat as much fruit as you like' idea is totally false when it comes to dieting and I think thats why many people fail.

My boyfriend's a WONDERFUL cook and spoils me rotten, which definitely didn't work so well what with me working really hard, being generally stressed out and not having time to exercise and take care of myself. When I decided I had to do something about my situation, I talked to him, as well as to my closest friends - they now fully understand why I need to be really "boring" food wise until I feel comfortable with my weight and my eating habits again. Just giving the moms, dads, friends and the girl/boyfriends out there a heads-up might be the best start of your diet!

I modified your sandwich for you! -->

Onion roll = whole grain bread, preferably sourdough
Roast beef = grilled, skinless chicken
Cheese (kidding me?!) = 1/2 avocado
Tomato, lettuce, onions = keep these, but maybe use scallions/spring onions or red onion instead of yellow

That makes for less calories, less onion-breath, and better overall nutritional choices. Adding some red bell pepper, possibly grilled, and using some mustard vinaigrette instead of butter or mayo boosts the sandwich even more!

Thanks for the Sandwich recipe...Hopefully I can use it some time

Thing is I eat at the cafeteria at my job. I'd have to wake up extra early to prepare that kind of sandwich at home everyday.

I'll see if today I ask for it to be made with the whole grain bread with grilled skinless chicken.

I have made progress.. I refuse the chips now =) Next is the soups. (Are soups bad for you?)

I got my running shoes on Saturday from a Running Specialty Store and WOW what a difference.

I started walking/jogging yesterday. Did 4.2 Miles. On mountainess terrain(Road paved, uphill, downhill, uphill again)



PS...A Sandwich isn't a sandwich without the cheese! my opinion..
