Hi I'm Shannon. I'm a 17 year-old student in high-school. I used to be very involved in rowing but quit in May of this year. I'm looking to loose the weight I gained plus a little more and become more fit. :)
I hope to start rowing again during the next Spring season and I'd love to be in tip-top shape. I run almost everyday and lift light weights about every other day. I'm also an admitted chocoholic and I have no desire to be cured just learn to have more controle. ;)

Is there anyway to safely and healthly lose say 5 to 10 pounds in two weeks?
I know my faults, but I'm being pretty good about working out, and not eating to much junk yet the weight won't come off. I have a trip coming up soon in the next couple of weeks and I'd like to look better. =)
Thanks and hearts! <3

8 Month mark - My wife and I got back together but now wondering if that was a positive thing I put back on some weight. I am now at 270lbs. thats a gain of 21Lbs. I have reset my goal back to the original goal weight.
9 month mark - Left the wife. I am now 257Lbs. Thats a loss of 12.6lbs.
Has it been a year already? I want to thank everyone here and the staff of traineo for everything so far. Right now I sit at 250Lbs. that is a loss of 70Lbs in a year I feel better about myself and want to continue losing!

It's possible I did it but I think it was only because of my change in diet. Laying off soda, white flour, high fats, and starting to move my body more. I have been losing an average of .59lbs a day for the last month and 10 days.

Yep - cut out wheat if you can, it makes a big difference to how you feel (in many cases, myself included).
Eat small, frequent meals throughout the day, workout twice daily, morning and evening, don't eat within 3 hours of going to bed, keep carbs relatively low and protein relatively high, and you should notice the difference pretty quickly.
Cheers

Thanks guys!
I also read some where, I forget where though, that egg whites have a high amount of protein, true?

Yes, of course it can be done, it's whether it's a good idea.
If you're losing more than 1-2lbs a week it's less likely to stay off as it will probably be water & muscle rather than fat so it's counter-productive.
Going for a large goal in a couple of weeks is also more likely to give you the short-term "I'm on a diet" attitude which also isn't that productive in the long run.
And yes, egg white is high in protein.

In addition to the above, cut out sugars and limit calories. It is possible to get all of your nutrients and still limit your intake.
I limit my intake to 800-900 calories per day and I am on a 20 week plan that will allow me to go from 299lbs to 215. (I sought advisement from a dietician & a doctor)... After 5 weeks, I only have 45lbs to go...
When you are heavy like me, I am sure that it is easier to lose this much weight... and my biggest learning is that intake is the biggest factor in weight lost. Working out makes you healthy and promotes weight loss but I believe that in-take is the primary factor.
Time to make the donuts.

As my dad used to say, "Getting in shape is 100% diet. And 100% exercise."
The advice above is great for some quick drops. Knocking out wheats/sugars, and basically anything with a high Glycimic Index will help a TON. You do have to watch out for the "starvation" factor when losing weight this quickly. Basically you need to let your body know that you are changing fuels, not stopping fueling.
With that in mind, eat plenty of food. Get in some of those good fibers from veggies. It will make your stomach full, but still avoid taking in as many calories. Working out RIGHT when you wake up will help a bunch too. I started doing this, and found out that at 6AM it takes me nearly a half hour to reach my target heart rate, while at 6PM I could reach it in 2 minutes. And I would have to say that was a huge contributing factor to dropping my most recent lbs.

NYCinephile .
My fitness regimen includes stationary cycling, light weight training and lots of walking around NYC. I'm a graduate of WeightWatchers and an enthusiastic advocate of its balanced approach to weight loss. I'm sure that I drink too much coffee and get too little sleep. :)
My goals are to maintain my weight in a healthy BMI/BF % range and forestall the toll of advancing age. :)
I think Traineo's established a great community and appreciate the support and information we share.

Most of what I've read recommends that you lose no more than 2 lbs./week. I assume that your objective, once you've lost the weight, is to keep it off. I continue to recommend Weight Watchers as a sensible approach.
Good luck!
