I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

Well said.
Regardless of what you plan on doing in the long term, take 2-4 weeks and track EVERY SINGLE THING you eat/drink on a website like fitday.com. Then you know how you're eating and can approximate for your daily intake. If you eat very consistently, you won't necessarily need to count calories anymore.

I have two babies and have to get going to the gym, so this is short, but...
The easiest way to count calories is myfooddiary.com. It has every food in it's database, tracks your exercise and weight and tells you how many calories you have left to lose weight and how many you have left to maintain your current weight. It keep charts of everything also. Very useful...I think it is about $9 a month.

I am trying to get fit and thin so that I can stop being the 'man that keeps getting fatter' and to help get my triglyceride count down to normal levels.

I have been using gyminee.com to count my calories.
Their food database is created by the users so it is a growing database of foods, but any member can add a food into the database.
They have a free membership that I have been using for the past few months.
So there are a few websites out there that can help with counting calories.

Here I am playing some Journey on my air guitar.
I'm a 22 year old with lots of determination and discipline 6 months out of the year. Needless to say, I've fallen off the wagon again and it's about time to get back on.

Counting helped me a lot after starting a new diet, but after awhile you begin to remember the number of calories in foods. Since then, I have adopted the 'eat a reasonable amount of healthy foods' instead of counting.

gyminee.com sounds like something I will check out!
fitday is also free - unless you're committed for the long term and married to some functionality you can only get from a paid site, DON'T PAY! There are a ton of free resources so check them out first.

ohh mannn i toootalllyyy count! sometimes obsessively, but not always. i usually write what i eat in a little book, sometimes i do it ahead of time so i plan out meals and drinks and snacks for a few days in advance. thedailyplate.com helps with this meal-planning, too. of course sometimes if i go out spontaneously or something, i cant always remember to count everything and then on top of that - remember to write it in my book. but i at least try to get back on track asap! no matter what, i aim for things that are generally low-cal. fruits and veggies, hollerrrr.
