Hello all !

I am trying to reach 190-195 lbs Im at 215 right now , I was in a car accident about two years back and gained a bit a weight from physicans orders not to workout for several months , anyway Im always using my eliptical machine , hiking , mountian biking anything i can but I only lose about 1 -7 lbs then it comes back, I was trying these "liqiuid diets" finding myself so drained of energy from lack of nutrients I suppose that it was making me sick plus I gained two more pounds. Iwas told be people at the gym "pros" haha that I need to take in only 1700-1900 cals for my weight , is that right ......I mean I think Its doing more harm than good .
Im a first time dad trying to balance a workout routine with full time job and college so Its not like I can spend 5-6 hours a day hitting the weights ya know. I try to eat semi- well , but honestly all the false info on the web and fad diets have me at stand still a know I know I can do this given the proper info. Could someone point me in the right direction

Thanks So Much

I was in a similar situation from you... The stretch between 200 and 190, for me, took forever... 190-180 was even worse.

Somethings I did that helped.

1. Several small meals every three hours (instead of big meals)

2. No fad diets!!!! Eat like a normal human just control your portions.

3. Increase lean protein (whey shake, some skim milk, fruit, blend, enjoy!)

4. Intensity is good. Personally, I never get results from the bike (though I
enjoy riding) or the elipitical... 3 good miles of sprinting always seems to work better.

5. Change your rountine every few weeks.

Hope that helps.

In Weight watchers some members do something called the wendie plan (see http://www.stormpc.com/ww/wendie_plan.htm for more information) when they hit a plateau. It is when you alternate eating more calories one day and fewer calories the following. It tricks your metabolism into burning more calories. The method prevents your body from thinking it's starving and doesn't allow it to get too comfortable at a particular caloric intake.

You know, weight watchers is a really reliable plan and easy to follow. It's adjustable to anyone's lifestyle. I've lost 50 lbs following the points system. I lost 20 of those pounds just using the online version. It's really healthy and teaches you how to change your lifestyle to be more healthy. I definitely recommend it.

Let us know if anything works!

Good luck!
Rosanna

I also did WW at the start of my weight loss and though I didn't really get much out of the meetings (too much whining and complaining for my taste-though I understand the emotion behind it...) what I did find valuable was the portion control...

I mean even if you only count points for a few days, it's pretty eye opening to see how someone your size should only have say 30 points in a day and you learn you're typically eating 200... That kind of stuff really got me motivated...

Six meals a day.
Well-balanced diet.
One hour of cardio EVERY day.
Weight training three days a week.

Plus, don't forget - weight isn't everything. If you build muscle, the scale won't cheer you up at all, inspite of great results. The tape measure might be a much better, eh, well, measure for you.
