Hi all, my name is Juan. Although I signed up almost 2 months ago, I didn't really start using the site until this past week. In my early 30's I moved out of Manhattan(that means alot less walking), started a sedentary more time consuming job, worked out less, and gained about 56 lbs. When I tried to get back into running, I found that my knees and back could no longer take the pounding. After getting over some serious back injuries, I found my way to cycling and have started getting back into shape. I managed to shave off about 15lbs and hope to lose another 30+lbs. I found this site through some people at bikejournal.com and enjoy using it. It helps to keep me motivated and honest with myself about my progress. I NEED to lose the weight because I've commited to doing my first bike race in late March. Every 12-15lbs I lose is equivilent to gaining an extra 1mph on the bike. I need all the speed I can get
