Hello everybody

A hell of an initiative Elisegettingslim ;) (see the suggest section)
I'm brand new on the site, just finished editing my profile, but a little message is a bit warmer I guess.
I haven't been the healthiest person around, smoking and partying a lot during my 20's, but I quit the bad habits and went back to my old love for distance running and outdoor sports (that I never really stopped).
I feel at 33 years old more fit and healthier than say 8 years ago, and want to keep it that way, and improve both my health and my fitness, with one long term objective, finishing an iron-man triathlon, and in 10 weeks, running my first semi-marathon in a decade.

Thanks, thierry. Good to hear about you. . I reckon it´s very clever setting the intermediate goal of 10 weeks. ;). All the best! As for me, I´ve been overweight since I began high school, and now that I´m finished high school I´ve decided enough is enough (or too much, in my case :P) and it´s time to start doing more exercise and eating less. Just a healthy lifestyle.

Hopefully some more people introduce themselves as they come along. .

New here as well!

I lost 25 lbs since 2003, and I'm battling to get off the last 3-5 lbs, as well as maintain the weight loss. Holidays were rough, to put it mildly. SO much cheese and wine and bread..so little time to exercise....

thierry - congrats on setting the half-marathon goal! I've been toying with the idea myself. Mostly I run 10K's and a couple 5K's. Having a race to run helps me stay motivated in eating well and exercising for sure. I'm finishing up my twenties on a healthier note than I started them as well!

Elise - Very nice to hear the rational "healthy lifestyle" in your comment. That's how I lost weight - it takes a long time, and it's not always easy, but lifelong commitment is the way to go. I tried diet pill, I tried Atkins, and all that did was cause the inevitable weight re-gain...bad bad bad. Are you going to college now? My college had a great free gym that I loved. The good ol' days...*feeling old*...;)

Nadine -I love your wolf pic..so cute.

Anna

hi everyone.. its great to see that this site really does help! growing up i was of the atheltic build though a little big boned i guess... mostly due to playing a great deal of sports... since i moved away to college and post college i have definitly put on weight and i am having trouble getting it off... i moved far away from everyone ive ever known in life to go to college and stayed away when i got my job... being away from everyone i love really is lonely sometimes... friends can never replace family... ive found a great guy who loves me for me... but id still like to lose the weight.. ive tried many different things to lose and keep it off with no avail.
if anyone has some helpful hints or tips let me know!

jenn
