Hi, just wanted to drop a note and say hello there. I'm new here, too.

Hitting the high points...

Need to lose about 50-60 lbs, have been obese (or since I guess anything 25+ above 'recommended' is morbidly obese) most of my life. Parents were/are the same to some degree, but they were fit as kids whereas I was not. Physical activity and exercise not a component at all in my family...instead we (and I am now) workaholics. 60, 70, even 80 hour work weeks not unheard of at all. As a result, we ate on the go (lots of fast food and eating out), ate bad quality foods (lots of sodas and snacks), ate especially when stressed. And as a result, both parents had/have significant health issues and I'm overweight, prediabetic, and actually would rather work at my stressful job than exercise. Not to mention, I've now got a PhD in stress/emotional eating.

On the positive side, I'm only 38, still single (and looking) with no kids, and I've finally gotten motivated enough to make a significant change with this part of my life. And I'm radically changing my 'work-first' attitude as well. I am determined to change now.

Have made a change to a lower carb eating plan (not Atkins, but more like a Lower Glycemic Index) with a doctor's supervision and have lost 20 lbs that way since March of this year, but I'm still making lots of adjustments to those food choices. Some days the willpower is good, some days not so much...LOL. But I do recognize trouble areas a lot more than I did and try to make better, and conscious, choices when ordering now.

Specifically joined looking for help with motivation and ideas for exercise and toning, especially for those of us who are gym-adverse by nature. Hoping I can learn some things from other members here and pair the weight loss from proper eating with a regular, sustainable exercise program that I'll actually *want* to do and is good for me.

Hoping y'all will let me hang out and learn something...
