Hi folks, Martin here and just a wee message to state my goals. I'm 6' 2" and 15 stone. I've been out of action for 2 years with a bad shoulder injury and need to lose weight, roughly a stone. I've been doing HIIT on an elliptical machine for 10 days now for 15 mins each week day. Anyone got any other ideas for me? I've also got a static bike and a bench with a bar and dumb bells totaling 40kg.

Please help, i've no idea what i'm doing!

Thanks in advance people!

Martin

Hey Martin, 6'2" and 210 lbs (15 stone) does not seem very heavy. Perhaps you should focus more on losing some fat and gaining some muscle, just trimming up basically. I would recommend weight lifting. A popular program is the stronglifts 5x5. And I've heard that HIIT is a great cardio program. Also, you are going to want to clean up your eating - no junk! Stay away from simple carbs and make sure you are getting enough protein. These are some basics to help you get started. Good luck!

Yep, what Rachael said. Lifting weights will trim you down oh-so-quick (if your diet is clean), which sucks for me since I hate lifting. Is your shoulder 100% now? If not be careful what lifts you do.

thanks guys! Shoulder is ok but can't really do butterflies etc. As for my size I've a very large upper body still in proportion but large! I'm good to keep going and try reaching my goal. I used to be 13 stone and would love to get down there again but I can but dream! Any tips on how to use the weights I have? Thanks again

Martin
