Hi All,

I have only been a member on this fab site for 2 1/2 months but I have actually been monitoring my weight for exactly a year tomorrow.

When I started last June my stats were: 71.5kg Bust = 32 in, Waist = 36 in and Hips = 41 in.

Today my stats are: 71.3kg Bust = 32 in, Waist = 31 in and Hips = 40 in.

As you can see the ONLY thing that has changed is my waist and I assume that is a reduction in water retention.

So although I have increased my activity levels and have changed to eating more salad and fruit. I can only assume that I have not managed to reduce my calorie intake accordingly.

A whole year I have not budged in weight. I suppose I should be thankful I have not put anymore on but I really did not think I was consuming that many calories. Obviously I am.

The highest my weight has been during the last 12 months was in March this year at 73kg which is why I joined this site. I did manage to get down to 69.6 way back in Sept 07. But it has steadily gone up again since then.

I am not looking to advise I know what I am doing wrong I simply need to eat less. I just wanted to post an update.

P.S. My height is 167 cm so I am officially overweight for my height.

Sarah, losing 5 in around your waist is a HUGE accomplishment! So don't sell yourself short! I'm sure you worked very hard for those 5 in and I bet you feel better and you pants fit a lot nicer as a result. So good job to you!!

On the flip side, I understand how frustrating it can be to try to lose weight and not. It's hard not to focus on that number on the scale. But let's remain positive and get on track. Good results are sure to follow!

Yep, 5" is huge, and that's definitely not all water weight. Does it fluctuate 5" every month? I highly doubt it! Losing those inches in your waist / abdomen is a GREAT indicator of your diet change. You have lost quite a bit of the deadly visceral fat that pads your organs and wraps around your intestines. The salads and fruit are great carbs and I'm not surprised this is the result from eating those healthful foods.

I imagine you have also gained a bit of muscle since your weight hasn't changed.

If you want to lose weight keep on track with eating those salads and fruits, cut back on your fats (no more than 30% total calories), and eat the proper amounts of lean protein (I'm guessing you'd need a minimum of about 80 g of protein a day). Keep the overall calorie intake low, of course. Losing weight is a slow process, but keep at it and you'll see results.

Hi, Thanks for the replies. Sorry I haven't been on for a while we recently discovered that my 6 year old is Gluten, Wheat and Dairy intollerant. Which has forced us to all rethink our diets and in order to support him we are all in the process of changing our diets to eat more healthily so he doesn't feel left out with all his new foods.

My weight is currently 70kg and my stats are: 31 32 40. So I still have another 6kg to go but am really excited about my new health regime. It is a a shame it took my son to be so ill to change my outlook, but better late than never. I have reduced the amount of alcohol I drink which has not been helping and my portion sizes.

I have just been out and purchased a 3 tier steamer and have ordered a food processor and slow cooker and am going to take some cookery lessons.

I have got a 10 foot trampoline in the garden a rowing machine in the conservatory and a skipping rope. I am also making more of an effort to walk with my dog, not just stand there and let her off the lead. LOL.

So hears to a new lease of energy and thanks to this site for us all being able to motivate each other.
