Good Morning Everyone!
I just joined yesterday. My name is Michelle. I am 22 years old and an unfortunate 275lbs. When I was 18 I was a vegitarian and a varsity Tennis player, 165lbs... I was then put in the hospital and diagnosed with Heart Disease.. After being bed ridden, ill and tired for a few years I ended up going up and down between 200 and 250... Once I hit 250 i hated myself and tried to lose the weight but kept gaining... I hit 275 a little over a year ago, have been on weight watchers since last March and recently joined 24 hour fitness.. I have stopped gaining but haven't been losing. I am determined to increase my efforts and time at the gym to lose some of this weight and help my heart.
I have come here to meet others, learn new tricks and skills and gain support. It's harder to go to the gym and see these fit, healthy people and know that I was once there and now its even harder for me to lose weight.
I get caught feeling sorry for myself sometimes and I don't want to be there. I will accept no more excuses and refuse to let my heart problem keep me overweight!!!
Anyway, you will see me reply and post on here, So I thought I would introduce myself. I am getting married in May 2009 and I want to look good on my wedding day. I'll meet my goal.. I have to..
It's nice to meet everyone!

Words to live by: "Now's the time to grab the steering wheel of your life. Delve deep within yourself and take responsibility for your health and behavior. Ask yourself hard questions and face the truth of what needs to be done. Weight loss is not always easy or fair but you are the only one that can lose weight for you. Take a turn for the better!"
Goals: 1) Lose ~45 pounds 2) Work out at least 6 days a week 3) Eat healthier consistently
I will reward myself at the following weights: 240, 235, 230, 225, 220, 215, 205, 200, 195, 190
I will reassess my goals after I have met the above goals.

I'm a plant enthusiast dedicated to eating whole, fresh foods. As for exercise, I regularly participate in: swimming, water aerobics, yoga, the elliptical machine, the stair stepper, running, and weight training. I try to switch up my routine a lot so that I don't get bored. My biggest obstacle to weight loss is eating when I'm lonely or sad, but I've started keeping a list on my fridge of other things I can do to occupy my time. So far it's really been helping!
Aside from health and fitness, I was married in December 2007 and am enjoying being married and decorating our apartment. I am currently finishing my last semester as an undergraduate, and hope to begin an English MA program Fall 2009. I love reading, quilting, cooking, hiking, swimming, decorating, gardening, and striving to protect the environment. I'm also really pleased that Barack Obama is going to be our next president.
Let me know if you need a motivator! Good luck in your health and fitness efforts!

20, male, geeky. I'm a web developer located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Weight is a big issue for me, not that I am extremely over weight, but I have a few heart conditions that make even a small amount of weight, a big issue.

Hey, I'm in a pretty similar boat. I'm 20, and I have congenital heart disease. I've had 2 open hearts (at 9 months, and 10 years) and am probably a good 60lbs over weight. Heart problems won't slow you, me, or anyone down. All they mean is that we have to be extra healthy, and this site is a great place to start. Good luck with everything!
