Hey all - joined this site about an hour ago and have been searching the crap outta the forums, learning about traineos features... I'm here to stay.

Looking forward to see if I'm the only one that needs to lose so much weight - seems there's a lot of you around who are really close to your goals!

I'm looking at a total weight loss of over 100 lbs (50 kg for those of you in Europe like me...), from 140 kg to 90 kg (308 lbs to 198 lbs). I'm a 36 year old man and am REALLY tired of... well being tired.

I got my gym membership and am willing to train until I puke. Got episodes of "The Biggest Loser" on my ipod and am all set to go at it on the eliptical machine! Even joined The Biggest Loser group on traineo - just sux I'm a couple days too late for the most recent challenge - but I'll get there next time!

Looking forward to meeting some great people here on traineo - don't be afraid to bombard me with motivation - I'll take all you can give me

Hi There,
I don't think you are alone in your new journey. It is exciting to see a lot of newbies this month with great goals from losing 100+ pounds to just a few.
What often happens on traineo is that everyone starting in begins by starting their own thread - which is a great way to jump in and get known by the community.
However, I think the real connection happens when you either start or join a group!! The threads then become a little more manageable and specific to your needs. I would encourage you to look at existing groups and even think about starting one of your own. Of course, it is always helpful to cruise the main board too!!!

It is a great site and very helpful in many ways. I have been here for about a year ( I can't believe that ) I usually hang with the JUDD group... but I like to get out on the general board sometimes too!!!

At any rate, good luck on your weight loss goals. The mantra which seems to work is.... "one day at a time" Don't get too bogged down in the past with self loathing. ( I have a friend that is so upset about her weight gain, her guilt and self disgust keeps her from doing anything!!!!) and don't spend too much time in the future..... "when I am thinner, then things will be blah, blah" I have lost about 30 pounds and while I am thrilled with my new size and energy, I am here to tell you that weight loss did not "cure" all the issues in my life that can create stress.... like having a teenager!!!

Welcome, Spyke!

You'll find people all over the spectrum of how much they want to lose or even gain. I think the greatest thing is seeing the different perspectives and learning so much from those with goals other than my own.

Also, you can join the Biggest Loser challenge at any time, so jump right in and put up your stats! You just won't be eligible for the leader board for the first week.

Welcome, Spyke, and good luck!

I, too, have over 100lbs to lose (and then probably some more!). I started here in September at 297lbs, and have a goal of 190lbs. Even that is a bit much for someone who is 5'8", but I'll worry about that when I get there.

There is a ton of information and support here, you'll love it!

Ditto on everything.....

And I was going to say the same thing that Cindy said. Get over and join that Biggest Loser group and the challenge, we would love to have you.

Good luck and keep the motivation.

Don't get discouraged along the way, and don't over do it or you may burn yourself out. Take it one day at a time!

Definitely join the Biggest Loser group and post your weight every week. It's really motivating. Tim (post above) is a great motivator to me (Thanks Tim) as I try to keep up with his 'Mr Consistency' weight loss approach haha

I've been on traineo for about a year I suppose but its only been since I joined this group that I've felt part of the 'community'. So get over there and join us and lets see if we can beat the women this time (they thrashed us last challenge)

Take the training easy to start with. That's the only thing I don't like about the Biggest Loser programme. They imply that you can't get results unless you 'train till you puke' almost. Slow and steady wins the race. Low intensity workouts mean you train longer and burn more fat ... and you'll enjoy it more and want to go back. Plenty of time later to really push it once you have your base fitness in place. If you don't get a steady base fitness in place injury is sure to follow.

Good luck ... hopefully see you over in the biggest loser group.

Mike

Ok - first of all, I need to say WOW - thanks for all the support everyone

Second of all, I should have gotten on a scale when I joined the site - I underestimated

Oh well, that's life - 10 extra kilos isn't the end of the world, especially since I still have my motivation. Going to work out tonight and begin my journey to my old pants

I agree with everything everyone said. Welcome aboard. You seem to have your head in the right place, and the mental aspect of losing weight is MORE than half the battle (I'm still learning this lesson myself).

Keep us posted!
