At 140 pounds, you'd be out of the "underweight" class using BMI index. That should be your intermediate goal. Putting weight on too quickly isn't good. I'm sure you'd rather put on a larger percentage of lean body mass in that 60 pounds rather than fat. Assuming your an ectomorph (naturally lean), building that much lean muscle isn't going to be easy. Do you like peanut butter? Because you should make friends with the peanut butter and jelly and peanut butter and banana sandwich cause you're going to have to eat a bunch of them to add quality weight.
You should also probably get a Segway so you don't burn precious calories walking anywhere. lol, j/k, but you certainly need to stay away from cardio exercise.

Looking to add some muscle over the next few months. Trying to get in those calories and focusing on the compound lifts. We'll see how it all goes :)

Wow.. that is skinny for sure.
60lbs is possible but like Split says your going to have a tuff time gaining 'good' weight. Cardio is out for the most part.
First off eat about 1.5g of protein for every pound you weight (so 130 x 1.5 = 195g of protein). Peanut Butter, Fish, Chicken, Beef, etc.
You probably should consume 3000 calories of 'good' food (not junk food) a day. Combined with working out (weight training) you can put some good weight on. Some will come in the form of fat but a good chunk will be muscle growth. A 4 day workout routine would be good. If you could do 5 days a week that will be fine provided you can get enough rest
Good luck with these goals and take some pictures every month to monitor your progress

Also on a side note. Quicker muscle gains will come from squats, lunges and dead lifts. Your legs will pack on more muscle faster. As the muscle mass in your legs grow, you'll also notice faster muscle gains in the rest of your body as it builds off your base. Remember to work out the whole body

Thanks for the info. I really do like peanut butter and already consume quite a bit of nuts and meat. I have just started watching what i eat and checking protein content and calories. There are not trainers where I live so I am learning this all from my own research. I appreciate all the help you are giving me and will have a current picture posted soon.
P.s. Ectomorph would be correct.

This is some goal!
It would be interesting to explore this further and find out more about what you are trying to achieve. Your figures require a weight gain of around 10lbs a month!!
I believe anything is possible, and I'm always impressed when people choose themselves big goals, cos I love to see people think big.
Would be very intrigued to get a bit more background on what is behind this goal and how you came to that figure? Keep me posted either way.

I am back after having the flu for a week. My reasons for wanting to gain the weight is to feel better about myself and healthier. If I just get a little sick it has a major impact on my overall weight and health. I think that with more weight I would not get as sick as easily and would probably up my self esteem. Plus mw girlfriend would also like to see me with more muscle less bone showing.

glad you recovered from the flu. try to establish realistic goals for yourself. maybe establish long term and short term goals for yourself. 60 lbs being a long term goal and short term goals of 5 lb gain increments -this would be more realistic and doable.
