Hi, I'm Natasha. I just found this site and am hoping to find some people that I can partner up with, people who are also looking for someone to be accountable to. I promise to stick with it and not drop out after the first week! I have been on Spark People for several months now but am looking for that added motivation to begin an exercise routine.
Looking forward to geeting to know people from this site!

26, Male and living in London UK.
I have a few real goals that I want to achieve, some childish ;-) and others more serious. Currently I'm in a competition with friends to see who can get 'the best six pack' by 01 Mar 2008... like I said childish!
The others are fitness orientated. I have a trip planned to Thailand In January 2008 to train Muay Thai and MMA for 6 months. The training looks harsh; 4-8km warm up run followed by technique training, conditioning, pad work and sparring.... TWICE a day... 6 days a week! Obviously I'll need to be fit so I have a general goal of improving CV dramatically (I really should set specifics!) I'm also booked in to run a 10k in a few weeks and a half marathon early next year... funny thing is I absolutely HATE running with a passion!
Current program is 5.5km run in the morning followed by weights in the afternoon (one bodypart) Mon - Fri.
Biggest problem is diet.. damn that KFC!

I have prioritized my job and grad school before my health and my mind and body took a beating as a result. I am coming upon an age milestone and want to reclaim my health and fitness! Mens sana in corpore sano!
****************************
Now starting a my second goal and last 10 ponds. These are a bear! I have a surfing vacation coming up so I have to vary my workouts for core strength, swimming endurance, and upper body conditioning. I think wearing a bathing suit and not wanting to drown will be serious motivation!
****************************
Part III: I had some diet fatigue over the holidays. That and the flu helped me to add some weight over the season.
Now, I'm getting back into it and commiting "40 days" until Easter to stay focused on my goals. My friends have given up candy and other things for Lent so I'm looking at it as making it easier to stay on track.
************************** For the summer, I've changed my goals. I have been healthy (with times of diet fatigue) but I have been mostly in a maintenance mode.
Now, I have a new commitment to drop some more weight to be squarely within the "normal" BMI category. I am committed and can do it by the end of the year!

Hi Natasha,
I started out close to your weight and am close to reaching my goal--these last pounds are tough! It was hard but I had some motivators to help me along. If you need a motivator, I'd be happy to help. This site has been really great for staying on track when workouts and dieting get hard.
Good luck!

About me: --------------------------- I'm an architecture student at a great school.
After trial and error, managed to shed the pounds for real.
What I'm doing: --------------------------- Portion control still a problem. HIIT 2x/week Starting weights 1x/week
I take stairs over escalator and elevator ALL THE TIME (I climb 6 sets of stairs minimum for the day at the metro 2-3floors?).
Extra note: --------------------------- I finally understand what being fit means! And I actually love running now thanks to HIIT.
Goal: lose the belly fat! My problem area. First goal: 120lbs - MET 2nd goal: 116lbs - MET 3rd goal: 112lbs ish with more muscle definition
Realizing I can't change the way my body stores fat and have a noticeable belly during the day (pic was morning with light breakfast after workout) I will work on making a stronger core to counter the pooch a bit
Dropped 1 pant size since last year (stable weight) Dropped 2 pant sizes since mid-Summer after Greece (pastries=weight gain)

I can't go a day without checking Traineo, I usually check a couple of times a day, and people don't always write... it's just a good reminder and a good kick in the butt.
When you want to reach for something to eat, you come here, check your graphs (see your progress or lack of) or what people have to say and it gets you right back into gear.

Here I am playing some Journey on my air guitar.
I'm a 22 year old with lots of determination and discipline 6 months out of the year. Needless to say, I've fallen off the wagon again and it's about time to get back on.

Well if you promize to not drop out after a week, I'll be a motivator
I started to use Spark People, but other than the articles, I find Traineo a much better tool to keeping myself accountable, while getting help and knowledge from other people at the same time.

Thanks for the replies!
I am still trying to get a feel for this site and as soon as I figure out how to add motivators, I will do so. I guess after that, all I do is log on daily and chart my calories, workout time etc?

My motto that I live by is "don't wait for your ship to come in...swim out to it" I have always had the belief that what hurts you makes you stronger, but as of latley it has been harder to keep the positive attitude...so I am hoping to get a little motivation from others :)

I want muscles! I want to be healthy, energetic, and I want my mental image to match my outside image. I'm in this for the long haul.

I'm new to the website too and I'm beginning an exercise program again and WW. Last week I got the most marvelous way to view exercise which I thought of as a necessary chore. Zach on this site said that he viewed exercise as a "gift to himself." That changed my viewpoint too and I'm been able to begin exercising with that perspective. Where the mind goes the body will follow. It's been very effective to me these last few days. Good luck and stay in touch. This website helps!
