Hello guys, my name is Alex and I’m from England. By day I’m a computer programmer, by night an ice/skater hockey player. I’ve just turned 21 and I’m on a quest for me to change…me!

Going back; in 2005 when I started University I was average with regards being in shape although not having a single physical hobby! All the money I made at this time was spent on either my car or my girlfriend. Things looked good; I was in shape, at University, with a car and a girlfriend; things couldn’t go wrong, could they?

During my second, rather stressful year at University, my relationship with my girlfriend started showing cracks and before long it was all over. I was crushed! She was my childhood sweetheart (please, hold the sympathy; I’m over it.)

Post breakup life was tough, my car was outsourcing all of my incomings (requiring essential repairs), and rising fuel costs weren’t helping either! Finally, I was told at my (horrendous) part-time job that they needed to cut down their work force, not good. I was given a choice: be made redundant or work Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights (2230-0630) for 10 weeks over the summer. The pay was fantastic; however, the hours were terrible! I lost touch with my friends and perhaps reality? I had lost another thing too, self confidence and half-respectable body image.

I was eating terrible food, at terrible times in a terrible state of mind. Basically, I had put on a lot of weight (emphasis on “a lot”.) The hardest thing to see my self lose during this time was contact with my friends’, “thanks unsocial working hours”! Thankfully that job finished and it was time to embrace daylight…

I started my first “real” job in August 2007 and things are starting to look up! I have made a complete life style change. I’m earning a substantial amount of money which is really allowing me to enjoy life! I’ve taken up playing ice/skater hockey again. I play hockey at least twice per-week and I go plain skating as often as possible (1/2 times each week). I’m also a keen walker and cyclist so I bought a new bicycle! I go out riding or walking 2 or 3 times each week too.

It was 8 weeks after staring my new job and taking up all these fantastic hobbies that I realized that I could actually lose some weight from all this exercise! I had never crossed my mind before; I just wanted to be more active now I’m sat in front of a PC 8 hours a day. The final thing I felt obliged to change was my diet! Through changing my diet I found Traineo! So I’m now on a healthy diet with lots of physical activities and a willing to get back in shape!

If you read this far, thank you, it means a lot.

[ending]
You guys all seem super-super nice and supportive! I’ll be using Traineo to track my own weight loss quest and hopefully conversing with you guys as often as possible!

Alex

good luck and welcome.

you can do it!

I've been on this site for a while, since January last year I think, and I had lost some weight with it, but when I spiked up to my heaviest after a trip to Greece, this site really helped me and I'm the healthiest and fittest I've been in years now, and I'm almost done losing the flab!

I'm a pretty lazy person and terrible at comittement, so if I can do it, you can too!!!
