Sorry for the previous post under 'introduce myself'. I am new to this and will take a while to get the hang of it.

I am a 50-year old youngster. My problem is that my weight WILL NOT go down! I excercise every day - either on the eliptical, walking 3.5 miles, or 20 minutes of weight training. My diet is and has been very good (1500 - 1650 calories/day). I even had liposuction on my hips, thighs, stomach and love handles. Any advise would be great!! I would love to be down to 140 - 145 by Thankgiving.

Hi Gayle,

From your workouts logged on your page, it looks like you usually burn less than 200 calories per day with exercise. That's probobly not going to be enough for weight loss, especially since the metabolism is slowing down as a person gets on in years (no matter how young the spirit remains!). If possible, you'll definitely want to increase the amount and/or intensity of your workouts. That would be my first suggestion. And I have no idea what your current resting metabolic rate might be, but if you check out my page and see how active I am, you might get an idea about mine. I know that a 1600 calorie diet will help me maintain my body weight, but I have to drop down to 1500-1450 to loose about a pound a week. You might want to re-evaluate your nutrition as well.

Gayle,

Also, do more weight work because as you build muscle, your metabolism will increase and you'll burn more calories. Do the compound movements, deadlifts, squats, and lunges while incorporating some upper body movements. Like squat while curling hand weights to work your biceps. Here's a link:

Check out some of the exercises!

Good luck!

Sherri,

Sorry it took so long to reply. The website you gave me is great. Another bookmark added to my 'fitness folder'!
