Well I'll keep it basic, moved across the country for some more school and just recently took the bar. During the last 6 months or so I've put on 30 pounds. Now, I'm working to get rid of it.

So the basics I'm 26, 6 foot and 250 pounds so I've got a good bit to lose. Right now I'm trying to keep around 2,500 calories I've been tracking lately and that's about 45% carbs, 30% fat, and 25% protien. I'm trying to increase the protien to a bit higher but getting it to even 25% is tough started adding 6 oz of Tuna a day to jump up that high.
Right now my main workout is jump rope about 15 mins per day (getting a bit more than 65 jumps/minute right now not terribly fast but I still don't have the coordination down perfectly yet). I also do martial arts 3 days/week on top for about 20 minutes with a 40lb vest.
I've been going about 1.5 months now and lost about 10lbs so far. So I'm hoping to kill somewhere around 1lb/week or so.
Anyway, looks like a helpful site.

My dad lost 40 lbs jumping rope. That jank is killer when you get real good. One of the great exercises whose difficult really scales with your own experience.
Good luck dude.

I am always out doing something fun. I play Hockey, Racquetball and Paintball to keep me busy. I have been spending a good amount of time at the gym. I hope to keep on doing what I do and reach my goal!

Welcome and good luck. Man I have not jumped rope in a long time. I think I should give that a go sometime to mix it up.

Thanks guys.
Yeah, it's easier to keep up with than most workouts (at least for me) because I can keep changing my footwork and don't get bored. It's also nice because there's a big enough skill curve so far that my jumping has improved a lot.

A few ups and downs with the weight lately. Losing those last 10 lbs again now. Revised fitness plan: -some cardio EVERY day for a month to remove the revenge of the hip fat -some weight training, some pilates -I love biking and lots of fun summer sports! That's what it's all about-good times!
I will eat healthy foods and let my body weigh what it wants to weigh. I concentrate on whole grains, lean proteins, fruits and veggies, and I will eat delicious chocolate when I want to! Guilt has been removed from my vocabulary.

I did some jumping rope after my morning run today. A good addition, love the burn in my calves. Need new sports bra. Sorry, more than anyone wants to know. Matt, sounds like a great start, I'd keep changing up and adding more new stuff to that cardio workout. Jumping is pretty intense, but how about something you can do for a longer duration, also?

I've been concentrating a lot on my diet lately. That coupled with having to take at least a 30 minute walk a day with my new dog has helped move me from the plateau I was on.
I'm a web programmer/computer support guy looking to lose my gut. I play roller hockey 2-3 days a week, but that just isn't getting it done anymore.
After weight training 3 days a week, with the hockey I have dropped 14 pounds in the last 2 months! I still have a ways to go, but it's coming off.
Mini goals: 220 8/31 - Missed by a little 222 200 10/13 Close, 203 180 12/24 (So I can tell everyone how I lost almost 50lbs over X-Mas)

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you are. I'm 5'11" and started at 244. I found the weight started to drop dramatically when I went down to in calories to around 1800-1900, thanks to some suggestions here. I like to jump rope as a warm-up to days I work out my arms since it gets them warmed-up really well and when I'm all done my legs and arms both feel like they have had a great workout.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I know only 15 minutes with the jump rope burns some good calories, but past that isn't a great workout just because it's really short. My goal is to get that to about 30 minutes/day eventually. But since I've been upping my speed I'm not really able to go for much longer periods. Hopefully that will change pretty quickly though. I do some martial arts a couple days a week too, but it's pretty low intensity compared to the jumping. So not that sure how much help that will be. I'm trying though, I've kept up the jumping for over a month so far so hopefully it's becoming a habit.
