I am into my 5th week on body for life and was wondering if anyone else was doing the 12 week challenge? I have only lost about 5 pounds, but my pants fit better and I have more muscle definition, if anyone else is doing this I would like to see how your results are coming along.

Started NutriSystem on 3/10/07 to lose weight. Continue to weight train and adding more cardio. Primary goal is to drop the weight. Once the weight is off, then I will intensify the strength training.

Not currently, only in the past. My off days were out of control. I needed a 7 day plan It worked a bit for me, but something just wasn't there. 1lb/week is not bad, especially if you are exercising as much as the plan calls for. That is likely 1.5 to 2 lbs of fat a week, with some of the loss being offset by lean tissue gains.
I don't have my logs from doing it anymore, but I seem to recall a very small decrease in weight compared to a weight loss program.

I'm 32 years old and have been married to my beautiful wife Maria for 6 years. Since we married we both have become a little too sedentary, and after hitting 250 lbs. this past year, I decided i needed to make a change.
I want drop 40-50 pounds, and overall i just want to feel healthier.

i did body for life twice now - the first time i lost about 30 lbs. (about 5 years ago). Over time i regained the weight. This year i've been doing the body for life thing since february, and so far i've lost about 37 lbs. It works for me, the hardest part has been (like VM said) watching my off days, making sure they don't get out of control. Even with those off days, i've been losing consistently since i started in february, probably about a pound or two per week. A pound here and there adds up!

I hope to never stop after the 12 weeks is up, I would like to incorporate the eating and exercise as a way of life. I think eventually your body will just be use to the amount of food, times of day you eat, etc, so you wouldn't have to "track" everything for the rest of your life, it would just come naturally, and if not then it only takes a few minutes each evening to plan everything anyway. I was thinking of doing the up day, down day until I heard about this. I don't think I could go every other day hardly eating anything and with this I can still eat my favorites once a week. I have trouble on the free days, too, but my problem is not eating enough-I use to be a breakfast and lunch skipper and on free days I find myself reverting back to my old ways of not eating anything throughout the whole day until evening time.

Yeah, i've found that after about a month or so the body for life program becomes a bit of a habit, you eat 5-6 times a day out of habit, you have found some healthy foods you like to eat, and if you don't excercise, you don't feel quite right. I'm hoping this time to be a bit better about staying on track, and incorporating the healthy eating and excercise into my daily life. For me its working great right now, its been about 6 months, and i'm at my lightest weight probably since '98 or '99.

I've never heard of body for life plan, can you give me the info or website where I can find it, so I can give it a try?

Book by Bill Phillips, has a web site, but I don't recall the url exactly, do a google.
Plan basics, 6 days of low calorie high protein diet (5-6 small meals a day) and working out for 20-45 minutes hard. 7 day rest and anything you want to eat. I took that day 7 to new extremes.

I have a question about bananas on the body for life program. I cannot find bananas in any of the food lists. Are they considered a carb or what? Or are they not a food allowed, because I have heard good and bad things about them. I seem to notice if I eat a banana (with the extra potassium) every other day it helps with the cramps I get in my legs when I exercise. I was just wondering where they would fit in the body for life eating plan. Thanks.

I would class them as carbs for sure. They are a hybrid fruit so are not a true fruit as such and are relatively high in calories. Though every other day is perfect and yes, load up on your potassium lassy!!
