I just joined this website. I was taking Alli pills, found their website support helpful, but not the pills so much, so I wanted to find a new place to find support and be held accountable for my progress. I need to lose 140 lbs., and I don't really have any friends or family I'm comfortable turning to for help, so if there's anyone else here that needs to loose alot of weight, maybe we can help each other out. I'm 24 and hoping to be able to act like a 20 something before I'm 30.

Joel - The best thing about Alli is the online support and meal plans the program offers, but the pill itself probably wouldn't help much in the long run. But of course it doesn't promise to. It blocks 25% of the fat your body absorbs, but once you learn to eat low fat, I don't think its worth the money. I do like having it around when I eat badly, because I feel it takes care of some of that.

Started NutriSystem on 3/10/07 to lose weight. Continue to weight train and adding more cardio. Primary goal is to drop the weight. Once the weight is off, then I will intensify the strength training.

FWIW, I have lost 66 pounds on a nationally available diet plan. They do work, just do your research before you pick one. I cannot say the same system is right for you, but it definitely worked for me and was easy.

Pills are a complete waste of money, and your goal is completely unattainable if you don't base it off of hard work in the gym in combination with a smart, common sense diet.
Do you work out? If so, how much? I promise you it's going to take A LOT of pain and effort to get where you want to be.
Are you willing to rise up to the challenge?

I'm a 27 year old student finished up her undergraduate studies at the end of the year (or beginning of next depending on when classes fall). Have been overweight for some time now and need to get it off. I'm not at happy with where I am and haven't been for quite some time now. I don't eat much, which I'm sure contributes to my problem of weight. Lately, I've been walking to work and working out to Tae Bo (which I can't say that I like Tae Bo so much, but it is effective.) I also love to rollerblade and do yoga. I've also started the Fat Smash Diet (as of the 25 July). My goal is for the end of the year to reach my goal of 130. As a result of this, I want to go snowboarding, something which I've never done before but always wanted to try.
Feel free to drop a line and talk if you wish. Hope this finds you all well and in good spirits.

Hey there.
I've been doing the pills as well, but I've taken myself off since they weren't doing so well (and making me rather sad... I'm not sure if this is a side effect or simply my mood.) But I've been better ever since.
I have about 70 lbs to lose, so I'm in over my head as well. I wish you the best and if you would like to chat, just send me an email
Good luck to you.

I am always out doing something fun. I play Hockey, Racquetball and Paintball to keep me busy. I have been spending a good amount of time at the gym. I hope to keep on doing what I do and reach my goal!

Just work out hard.
I put around ten hours a week in training. (maybe more) It's really easy to make time. It's all about motivation.....

I started out exercising and dieting in order to qualify for a laparoscopic lap band surgery.
After a few months, I found that I actually felt better, and had more energy, so I decided to scrap the surgery.
I started doing so well in fact, that I inspired my husband, aunt and uncle, and cousin to go to the gym.
In 1.5 years, I'm down 120 lbs, and no surgery! If I can do it, anyone can.

I've been there. I've lost 120 lbs so far with no surgery, just diet and exercise. It's hard work, but can be done! Good luck! If you need anything, let me know. ;)

I am 36 mom of two teenagers. I have struggled up and down with weight since having children (haven't we all!!!). 2 years ago I joined a gym as I didn't want to live this way anymore. Although I am faithful to my gym relationship, and love to work out, but my eating keeps me from losing! I had my kids join the gym also when I did, and they are in awesome shape, which I am thrilled about!

Allison,
How wonderful you are here to face this challenge.
I myself have been between 70-100 lbs overweight for over 7 years. I joined a gym 2 yrs ago, which I love, but the weight still did not come off. I did get much stronger, and my endurance is awesome, but my eating habits were poor.
So, this site is so great for whatever personal weakness you may face.
I now set weekly goals for myself, as well as some personal challenges. I keep up my logs here, that so helps!!!
I am sure it took you longer than a year to put that additional weight on, so prepare yourself, it will take you longer to lose it. But don't get discouraged, its a marathon, not a race!
Hang in there!!!

Thanks for the support. I'm really feeling good about my work so far. I'm finally back in shape enough where I can really get some value out of workouts and actually enjoy them, once I get started. I don't take the pills anymore, though am glad I did, because the program really changed the way I looked at food. 7 weeks, down 13 pounds -- and don't worry I know that's probably the fastest drop I'll have.

I'm *starting* to enjoy running - at least on my treadmill. And I can't wait for ChaLean Extreme to come out this December! Hoping my hubby will do that with me. :)
Okay...new goal (for now) of 150 lbs. 152 lbs would give me a "normal" BMI for the first time in 15 years, and 150 lbs will mean a total of 100 lbs lost. That's only 14 lbs away! I can DO this!

Wow Alison! 13 lbs in 7 weeks is awesome! Keep up the good work!
