Hello everyone,

I joined Traineo because I'm hoping to lose weight and get back in shape. Four years ago I was a size 8/10 UK, but since quitting smoking and living with my boyfriend I've put on about 30kg and am now a size 18/20 and 95kg. I'm hoping that by focusing on exercising more often (I'm starting the couch to 5K podcast programme this week - going slow while a broken toe mends!) and focusing on reducing my portion size (my diet isn't terrible, though there's too much of everything but fruit and veg) I can lose 20kg by the end of the year.

My biggest problems have been not exercising because other people will see me sweating and puffing, but I realise that this is something I'll just have to get over if I want to reach my goals. Maybe once I've shifted 10-15kg I'll feel confident enough (and rich enough!) to join a gym and stick with it, but for now I'll keep it simple and see how I go.

Lack of support has been a challenge, as I don't like talking to others about my goals in case I fail, and it's hard when my boyfriend stays in bed and eats lots of junk - I feel obliged to join in! I'm hoping that Traineo will help me with the support and motivation I need.

Any help or advise would be great!

Hey Anna,

Welcome!! I've not long joined Traineo and think it's a fab website - there is so much information out there.

I'm looking for support too as after three weeks my weight has gone up and then come down and I'm exactly the same weight I was when I started!!

My diet is improving and my body is starting to change, so I'm not going to get het up over my weight, well as long as it doesn't go over 100kg! ;o)

Good Luck!

Hi Anna from a fellow UK member

Firstly congrats on quitting smoking, i quit in January so ive just celebrated my 6 months smoke free.
It is so hard to stop eating when you cant have a smoke....there seems to be know end to any meal and the urge to snack it terrible, it can be managed though.

Ive lost nearly 2 stone since i quit....all i really wanted to do was make sure i dident gain but i ended up going from a size 10/12 to a 6, im now trying to eat more because i like to jog alot but i never have the energy because i dont eat....

...anyhow i wish you all the best of luck hun, just remember quitting smoking was the really hard bit, being healthy will just follow through with a little effort and help and advice from the guys here.
Hopefully we will get a little sunshine back in our summer and then going out jogging or walking is a pleasure
Just remember its more about wat you eat than how much you eat....a lovely plate of veg will fill you up and be low in calories but a small handful of chips will meen your hungry within a hour if you get what i meen.
