Hi I just joined 2 days ago and am very excited. I started out last year in May at 250 lbs. I am down to 215 right now. I am going to the gym at least once a day. I do cardio every day and weight training 2-3 times a week. My goal is to reach 130. I want to lose about 1-2 pounds a week. But I know that my lose will probably be at a slower rate than that. I have adjusted my diet to were I eat 5-6 smaller meals a day and I have decreased my salt intake so that the water retantion is almost nill. I quit smoking slightly over 10 months ago and can finally walk on the treadmill for a full hour at a 20 min mile with out being short of breath. So I am very much on my way to a new and healthier me. Just wanted to stop in and say Hi and introduce myself.

Hi, I'm new here too. I'm actually new to dieting/exercising again - if that makes sense. I've never been thin but I've been in shape. I had a back injury that put me out of commission for almost half a year and with all the inactivity and medications, I gained 50 lbs. Now, I'm trying to get my way back to being healthy again. My goal is to lose the weight and get back in shape. Any support would be wonderful!

Hi, I am a 41 year old mom of an active 13 year old son. My husband isn't active outside of work but his work helps him to burn calories and maintain a body that fits him. Me, I sit at a desk most of the day. I work in student services in a military charter school. While others are outside staying in shape it is not an easy task for me to do as my position requires that I stay indoors and support the academy. My son and a friend at work have helped me to become more active and I love them for that. I want to be thin, heaalthy and active again. I know my weight is the reason for many of my aches and pains so my goal is to overcome the weight problem and live a life filled with activity. Motivation is the main thing I need and my son is great at motivating me.

Hi, my name is Robin and I am a 41 year old wife and mother. I have a wonderful, and very active 13 year old who I would like to just keep up with once in a while without becoming out of breath. I started on fitday.com a free program about a month ago it helps me track my food intake and activity calories burned but there is no contacts. My goal is to find others who are also, in need of motivation that I can join up with and help them as they help me. My goal is to weigh 175 by Jan 08 I presently am at 248 and am working hard at this goal. My son and I go bike riding at least 3 days a week for about an hour each time. If you are looking for a friendly person who would like to assist in motivating you and that you could assist in motivating please let me know.
Wishing you a wonderful 4th,
Robin

I've been walking at a good pace for about 40 minutes mon. -fri. and doing like weight training mon., wed. and fri. Does anybody know about how many steps there is to a mile?

I use a pedometer...altho I don't really know how many steps there are. I got mine for free on one of those freebie sites.

It's different for everybody as each person's step length is individual. However, it's recommended to aim for 10,000 steps each day on the pedometer for the best results.

There are about 2000 steps to 1 mile.
I want to welcome all the new people and wish you the best. I also want to thank all who have welcomed me. It is great to have such support.

I'm a 38 yr old married mom to a 6 yr old and a 2 yr old. Oddly (and sadly) enough, I lost the baby-weight in the first year after having my youngest, and then promptly proceeded to put it back on in the next year! What worked was clean eating, running, and resistance training. What's needed now is a firm push off my tush to get me started again!

Hi everyone,
I just got back from vacation and I am ready to put my foot forward and continue on with the challenge I started before I left. I hope all is going well for everyone and the summer heat is working in your favor rather than against you.
Just wanted to say HI,
Robin
