Hey! I'm looking for an active group that will keep me motivated. I need a few more motivators if you're interested.

I'm off to a great start (if I do say so myself), but I know I have a history of quickly losing steam. I need some people to keep me on track. I have an online record of everything I do, and I keep track of my diet pretty well.

My goals:

Increase muscle strength
Vastly increase cardiovascular endurance
Train every day
Attend MMA training sessions at least twice a week (in addition to outside training), increasing as the year goes on. Sessions are Tuesday and Thursday, so if you want to help, make sure I went!

Does anyone here have similar interests? Is anyone around willing to help me stay on track? I'll gladly help you however I can..

Good, so how do I get a few of them on my page. My first impression is, not much happens here.

So I'm expected to randomly chose a few people from the 70 pages available, completely out of the blue?

congrats C I and Nate M, your the first contestants. Anyone else want to get the chance to tell me I'm lazy and need to run more?

Hey, you're lazy and need to run more! What kind of diet do you have? What is your exercise regimen? Are you hydrated?

These people are amazing, Joshua. They're like another family for me. If you have questions, ask.

I eat approx 2500 calories a day (which is a weight loss at my size), a decently well mixed assortment of veggies, grains, dairy, and a little meat. I limit to 250mg collesterol, and 2500mg sodium. I stick to >150 g protein, because i'm trying to add muscle mass. Exercise regemin is 2 mile run every morning, 2 mile walk every afternoon (hills, to class and back), and 2 hours weights Mon, Wed, Friday.

I also am really really really trying to attend a 2 hour Mixed Martial Art training session on Tuesday and Thursday (which is what I need A LOT of motivation for). I drink little, and sleep much. I'm doing ok, but I need help sticking to it, because I burn out usually. I really think this time I can stay on target, though. So I need some wonderful comiseraters to kick me in the teeth when I get lazy.

I have a web site that tracks my weight regemins, if anyone would like to see / comment.

I use calorie-count.com to track my food intake (I'd highly recommend this site to anyone!)

I love comments, suggestions, feedback, because that keeps me interested. sooo.... can I add any of you guys?

edit: by drink little, I mean booze. I try to drink tons of water. Its crazy hot out right now!

You sound like you're doing all the right things, Joshua. As far as your Mixed Martial Art training, is this something you have experience with, or is it new? Be careful you're not trying to do TOO much at one time. You need to give your body a chance to rest as much as you need to work out. Why do you feel you need motivation for the martial arts? Is there some aspect about it that becomes a hurdle?

Well mostly my hurdle is inexperience. I feel like an idiot rolling around with army thugs turned brawlers, or imported ju jitsu experts, all of whom have a fighting record. But they don't mind teaching me, its all open door. There aren't boxing or muythai gyms around my town, so I have no other options.

Also, its later at night, when I am getting settled down. Its physically challenging, to be sure, but its the "new guy" thing I need to get past. I think. Also, they are all in much better shape than I am.

Remember, they had to start somewhere. Everyone was "new" at some point, right? We would all like to wake up one day and be strong, experienced, and motivated. You'll get there, but you have to give yourself the opportunity to grow and become something else. Just stick it out, have patience, and remember that you'll eventually get there.

I started running mid-March and could barely make it a mile without stopping. And I was slow. Today, I ran my first 5K (26:26), and I ran the entire time without stopping, and faster than I normally run. I was new to running at one point, but now I am more experienced. Joshua, you'll get there. Enjoy being the "newbie" for a while and let others share their wisdom with you.

The hardest hurdle we all have are the limitations we put on ourselves, not the ones others put on us. Just take it one day at a time. You'll do it.
