Hi,
Just thought I would introduce myself...
I'm Matt and just joined Traineo today. My goal is to lose 40 kilos (88 pounds) by the time I'm 40 - I have two years and a week...
My diet is actually not too bad, but I'm lazy and so the biggest step for me is to join the gym and get my fitness levels back.
Its a long range target, but its a big goal.
Nice to meet everyone!

80 POUNDS GONE!
I've gone from a size 20 to a 6 (and even sometimes a 4!) and I've never looked this good in my life! (22 years of being overweight, dontcha know)
I'm a dedicated South Beach girl with a newfound love for exercise.
I've given up white flour, white sugar, fast food, and who knows what else. But you'll never get my coffee away from me!!

YAY Matt! You can SO do that. I gave myself til my bday to lose 77 - and I set that goal last year, five days after my bday. I have two months left, and I'm there! Now given that men lose weight more easily than women, I'm sure you can blow your goal out of the water!
Go Matt!!

How come your diet is not too bad? Was it bad as you gained and you have changed it again? I suppose you are 40kilos overweight so your diet must rather be not too good. I look forward reading your posts, it is a very good plan you have and 40 kilos in 2 years is well doable! GOOD LUCK!

blest - thanks for the thumps up! I'm gonna try and blow it away...for sure.
Korinna - I mean, I don't eat badly - very little fried food, have cut down on the beer & wine, and reduced the sugary snacks... eat a lot of fish, chicken and lean meat, pasta, rice, veggies and fruit as much as possible... I went to see a dietician who changed very little in my diet - so I'm looking to a combination of some extra calorie control and some good hard exercise!

you can do it!!
i don't know if this is something you already do, but a lot of people here set short term goals and rewards for themselves. the smaller goals are encouraging and help you along the way.
also, you might want to check out the Johnson's Up Day Down Day Diet thread (JUDDDD).

Hey Matt,
I'm with you! I want to lose weight before I am 40, too, but that's mid-June of THIS year, so I need to push myself a bit harder.
Best of luck to you!

Hey i'm new to, have a fair way to go and with my diabetes my weight has crept up over the years but i'm keen to lose about 4 stones as I think that's realistic for me as I have never been a small girl even as a child, i would still be classed as overweight but only by half a stone or so. It's a great site by the looks of things everybody is really positive and encourages each other which is lovely i'm really impressed with it and hope it helps me along the way. Good luck to you all

Hello everyone. I'm a 58 year old librarian living in the Ozarks. I am 30 pounds down with a lot yet to lose. It's been slow going for a while, but I'm finally starting to go downward again. I realize that it will probably take another year for me to reach my goal, but I'm going to make it.

Hi Matt, David and Melany. Best of luck to all of you. It is possible. You can do it.
Instead of losing weight before I'm 40, I'm trying to get back to the weight I was when I was 40.
