Hi, came across this site while googling my paranoid questions W/R/T dieting, and I thought it looked like a cool place.

I've been on a diet for about 10 days now, and I'd like to think it's going well. I'm 23, have always been overweight and it's had a big effect on my life, I think. Well I'm sure it has.

My diet started due to a fortunate set of circumstances, I have a freind who is acting as my dietician, and while the diet is harsh it's working well. I might make a thread in the Diet Plans forum about this at some point, to get some feedback.

Last Friday I bought some scales and weighed myself, I was 80kg. At around 60kg I come back into the "not overweight" range for my height, and 55kg is my target weight. Anyway, today I weigh 78kg, I think!! This is of course a measurement taken when I hadn't been eating or anything just previously. My scales are also pretty crappy so I hope they're not lying to me . They read 1.5kg with nothing on them!

Anyway, that's what's going on, seems to be going well right now as I have plenty of weight to lose and I'm not really craving junk food or anything. But I'm sure there will be low points and I hope you guys will be there to reassure me when they happen!

Oh, and my goal is to lose 25kg (from my starting weight of 80kg), in 6 months, and completely change my relationships with food and my body. I went on a really long (12 mile) walk this morning, and mid way I was thinking about my neutritional needs and how the body reacts to different treatments, and it occurred to me that the body is really great and more amazing than any piece of technology ever made, and really deserves to be treasured by anyone lucky enough to have one!
