Hello Everybody

I'm Rebecca, I'm 5ft small and well above the normal weight for my height.
I am one of those owmen who always goes on about how they want to lose weight but never really do anything about it. Hopefully by joining this site I will be shamed into doing something about it.

I currently weigh around 10 stone depending on whose scale i am on. I do a lot of walking, mainly because I dont drive. My weight has been up and down the past few years, well....mainly up. When I do lose weight I dont see a change in the scale but a change in my measurements. I would love to see a change in the scale!

I am not much of a runner, never have been. I can swim for hours on end though.

I want to lose weight but like most people I have always wanted to lose weight quickly and so I become disallusioned. Yet again I go back into that cycle of just eating whatever crap I feel like.

I haven't fully got in to the swing of things yet, I have started to make changes by eating at least two kiwis and two tomatoes at work for lunch and a snack.

If anyone has any tips for exercises I would be very grateful. I have never really done any chrunches or things like that, i alwaysfelt I was doing them wrongly.

Fingers crossed I will get some where with all this

thanks for reading my ramblings

Rebecca, you've taken the first step toward success! I know it's so great to see a change in that scale. I am one of those people who has to hide the scale all week, weighing in once a week. I get very obsessive and there is no point in weighing in any more that that. If your clothes are getting big on you, that's the only "scale" of measurement you need! For me, the *best* feeling is slipping on a pair of jeans and having to wear a belt because they are too big. : ) Try taking your body measurements once a month if you really want to keep track. If you are walking to work every day, that's great! Try doing it more briskly to burn calories and get your heart rate up. Swimming is wonderful for toning. See if you can get your hands on a pair of 3lb weights to start training with right in your home. You can find examples of toning exercises on the net. If you really begin focusing on eating healthful foods, and make some changes in your routine you should definitely see a change in one month. The BEST advice I can give anyone as for dietary changes=Get rid of white flour and white sugar. Ridding your diet of all sugar is even better. You can't go wrong!

Hi Rebecca & welcome to Traineo. I think you will find it's a great way to stay motivated and see your success in a tangible way!

I know what you mean by being disappointed when things don't happen fast. One way traineo can help you get over that is how it lets you set whatever goal you want- your first goal might only be a small amount of what you'd like to lose, but it'll be something you can reach quickly!!

Pick out a few things to change at a time- you will read tons of do this, do that on here and you don't need to do it ALL. The simple formula for weightloss is "burn more calories than you consume" and keeping a log of what you eat every day is an incredibly effective way of coming to terms with what's keeping you from losing at the moment. Using measuring cups when you dish out your portions may give you a reality check as well. You don't have to change what you eat dramatically- just target a few things like you already did with increasing your fruit & veggie intake.

There is a thread called 100 awesome tips that I suggest you check out.

As for exercises, start out with ANYTHING that you can get yourself up and out the door to do 3-5 times/week. Swimming, long walks, whichever, it really does add up when you're doing it every day. Good luck & look forward to seeing you around!
