I'm RJ. I'm a 24 year old Computer Scientist. I just graduated college from University of Nevada, Reno in 2005, and since I've concentrated more on my career than on my health.
I've been advised I'm in a risky place with my fat and need to start cutting it off. I'm trying to lose A LOT of weight. I'd like to lose 150, but I set a smaller goal of 66lbs and when I meet that, I'll update it.
I'm pretty active in sports (play club flag football and basketball) but it's just not doing the job at cutting the pounds off. I'm making it my personal aspiration to cut the weight off.
To give you a better idea of my build since I dont have a picture up yet, I'm that offensive lineman in football. I'm a large, strong guy. I have a lot of muscle, but have even more fat covering it.
I have been contemplating a gastric bypass, but I thought I'd give it one more shot on my own. Any motivators or advice on diet, workout routines, or whatever would be greatly appreciated!

Hi RJ. Have you seen "The Hacker Diet"?

I'm a software engineer and while it does say "diet" it's really about lifestyle change...explained in a way that geeks understand and find interesting.

Good luck! http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/www/hackdiet.html

Checked out that hacker diet. Sounds interesting. Me and my fiance decided to tackle weight loss together. She doesn't need to lose weight, because she's already pretty slim (a size 8 @ 5'7"), but she's doing so to support me. We're just going to watch what we eat, eat smaller portions, and try to work out more. She's a runner, and runs half marathons. Me, I have been hitting the gym, playing pickup games of basketball, and have lost 8lbs since last week. So far, so good.
