I am 29 years old and just started my long journey to weight loss. I have about 200lbs to lose to get to a healthy weight, I'm starting my goal at 100 lbs and when I get there I'll go another 100. I've been heavy all my life, but the past year or two it has gotten way out of control. I am tired of the struggle but I know the Lord will help me beat this! I am married, have a 3year old boy and an 8month old boy. I want to get healthy and be able to see my children grow up.

Hey ya'll, I'm 29 and need to lose right at 200lbs to be my ideal weight. I know, I know, wow, how did she get so big!?!? Years of fast food and sitting in a classroom during college, lots of hours on my butt in front of the TV and lots of junk food! It's way out of hand, to say the least. I am married and have a 3 year old boy and an 8 month old boy. My mom and uncle were just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and my grandmothers (both sides) have it. My father has not been diagnosed, but I'm sure he has it too. I'M DOOMED UNLESS I GET THIS WEIGHT OFF!!! I want to get healthy and fit not just for me, but for my children, I don't want to die early like my 600 and 700 pound aunts did of chronic heart failure and heart attack. My family history is enough to scare me, although not soon enough. I started exercising and eating better a week ago and have lost 5lbs so far, next week WILL be better, I have to up my exercise. Like many of you I am starting with Walk Away the Pounds, just the 1 mile this week, I tried the 3 mile (I have yet to buy the 2 mile) and had to stop and 1 1/2 miles. It was tough!! I know I can do this, I have to do this for my health. I'm glad to be here and will see ya on the boards!!

I am 34 years old, married and a father of a 2.5 year old. They are the motivators for me to reach my goal. I started the new journey on 8/21/06 @307 lbs and as of June '08, I have lost around 108 lbs. I have been able to keep 100 lb weight loss since Sept. '07. What keeps me on track is the Traineo community, vision of a healthy and fit future and the mini-goals below. *GOAL 1 = 244 lbs, Date = 2/15/07 Date Met = 2/7/07 *GOAL 2 = 229 lbs, Date = 3/22/07 Date Met = 3/30/07 ________________________ *GOAL 3 = 199 lbs, Date = 6/30/08 Date Met = 6/5/08 *GOAL 4 = 185 lbs, Date = 09/30/08 Date Met = TBD (185 is my "ultimate" goal. Then build muscle.)
Hobbies/Interests: Baseball, White Sox, bowling, WII, Xbox 360, PSP, XM, Opie and Anthony radio show, Ron and Fez radio show, variety of music, working out, running.
Personal Records: 5K - 26:18 (4/14/08-8:29/mile pace) 10K- 54:56-9/16/07-(8:43/mile pace) 10 Mile Run - CXLD due to injury Marathon - 10/12/08
Advice: - Set a Deadline: "A goal is a dream with a deadline - Napolean Hill." - Set Mini Goals - They help you accomplish small milestones on your way to the "ultimate" goal. - Track your progress. - Plan everything out. Daily workout routines, meals, etc. - Be patient. Your goals will eventually be met, if you work hard.

I'm a 23 year old FFB (former fat boy). I'm a grad student at the Univ. of Phoenix. I was married on June 1st, 2007 by a wonderful supportive woman.
I have always been the fat kid so now I've changed that. I started at 305. I lost 80 pounds and was at 225 after I was sick. From Jan 07 to Apr 07, I put on 25 pounds. I then started to lose weight again, but started doing it the right way. I am now 235 and leaner than I was at 225. I'm going to see how close I can get to a 6 pack, but eventually I'll start trying to put on some muscle. Then lean out again.
Six-Pack would be awesome, I've never had one of those. So we'll see. (my photo is me at 305lbs. when i get a good pic of me now at my current weight, i'll post it)

Little life changes...thats what it will take. It took years for you to get to where you are now, don't expect to lose everything overnight- your body will fight back as it has gotten used to you as you are now. Whatever to move in the right direction, keep going! Replace that one soda with a glass of water, or at least only drink half. If you are going to eat a slice of pie make it smaller and eat a fruit along with it, walk an extra minute, instead of 20 do 21... incrementally you are taking the steps to succeed and letting your body adjust at a more natural pace. We're here for you and encouraging you. Good luck. By the way I'm a Texan (now a NY transplant). Keep posting your progress.

80 POUNDS GONE!
I've gone from a size 20 to a 6 (and even sometimes a 4!) and I've never looked this good in my life! (22 years of being overweight, dontcha know)
I'm a dedicated South Beach girl with a newfound love for exercise.
I've given up white flour, white sugar, fast food, and who knows what else. But you'll never get my coffee away from me!!

Way to go! I'm always inspired to hear from folks who are just starting. It is hard just to get started when you have a lot of weight to lose.
I hope you keep it up and keep posting.

Hi Jo ! Welcome! You lost five pounds already? That is wonderful! I know you can do it! Just keep coming to this board, it is a great way to start the day. And I don't think anyone here is asking " how did she get so big?" I think we all know, no matter how much or how little our individual weight loss goals are, we are all in the same boat! So, do not be self conscience here, sweetie!
( I had the sweetest aunt named Jo, who hailed from Texas!)

I'd like to loose weight tone up. Ideally, I want to particpate in an inline marathon this summer; I just don't know which one yet... maybe Disneyland! ^_^

Welcome Jo!! Congrads on getting motivated to loose weight!! ^_^ It might take discipline and "being adult" e.g. eating salads in lieu of the burger you *really* want.. ;) - but it's well worth it! I've found that whenever I 'slip' (pack on the lbs...) and then get back into exercising - the exercise usually starts a GOOD up-ward spiral of *wanting* to exercise and eat better simply becuase it makes you feel GREAT!!
Hope you get your goals and we're all for ya! (also from Texas...)
