Alright well i am 18 yea old male who weighs about 230 pounds and hate it. I gained weight my senior year of high school and it has completely messed with my life. Now I am finally ready to start over. I had my first semester in college and I did not succeed. I used to be a intelligent, hard working, and fit student. I need that same guy to come back. I would really appreciate any motivators out there to help me out.

Hi Imran,

I think joining this site is a great step for you! However, I do think you have a ways to go on your own before you're quite ready to have others help out. I believe, from the limited post you've made, that you have the ability to be self-confident and reach your goals. You remember yourself as someone you liked, and what's even better: you believe you can become someone you like again.

My suggestion for a first step is to come up with some sort of general plan. Like eat dessert only two nights a week. Or switch from white rice to brown rice. Go with diet instead of regular snapple. Something that's a small step towards changing your path and becoming more healthy.

You don't need to "start over" but gear yourself into growing towards the right direction. You'll get there, but it'll take time. Keep a positive outlook, and take it one day at a time!

I recommend the book, "You on a Diet", by Dr. Mehmet Oz & Dr. Michael Roizen. There are no magic bullets in it - but there is a whole lot of good explanation of what's going on in your system as you consume food and exercise. I wish I would have read a book like that when I was your age and started my career of yoyo dieting.
