The heaviest I've been is over 170lbs in 2005 but I made the effort to eat healthier and start exercising and I managed to lose a lot of weight. Now I want to get fit and improve my health further and this looks like the place to do it!
What has surprised me most about exercise is the positive effect it has on my mental health. I suffered from severe depression for several years and exercise has played a huge part in my recovery and subsequent management of the condition.
In short, this is not a 'diet' or a fad for me; it's a lfestyle change because really that's the only way to do it :)

Hi everyone! Just dropping into the intro forum to, well, introduce myself.
I'm Anna, I'm 23 and from Liverpool in the UK.
I've never been fit, even when I haven't been overweight, but just over a year ago I started to take regular exercise for the first time in my life and eventually got down to a weight that is considered 'healthy' (but only just!) for my height. Now that I'm more body-aware, I'm taking steps to actually getting fit, rather than just maintaining a healthy weight, but I'm a total beginner when it comes to real exercise and training so I'm really glad I found this place.
I don't want to over-complicate things, because then I might give up, but I'm really looking forward to trying new techniques, doing new classes and working towards new health goals with you all :)
Nice to meet everyone.
~ Anna

Hey, I'm a lot like you...I need to lose weight. Started at 332 last year and my goal is 190-200.
Since we're in this together, I'm asking for an agreement. If you agree to motivate me, then I will absolutely commit to not wasting your time nor energy, to take your tips and motivation seriously and of course reciprocate to ANYBODY out there that is looking for an honest, candid and sincere motivator while changing their lifestyle.
Do we have a deal? (Handshake and a pat on the back!)
My podcast/blog is really just a way for me to remain accountable for my weekly progress and for once and for all change my life FOREVER.
I hope that I didn't bore you, but a profile (to me) is something that you can read, understand where I'm coming from and hopefully have a good, clear mental snapshot as to who is behind the typing.
I hope to help as much as possible as well as get valuable tips and support from this site. Thanks for reading and I hope that you'll come to me when you need motivation or a little kick to get you going. Man, my fingers hurt. My goal weight is per month, NOT the overall goal. I find that monthly goals are a lot more motivating and recognizable rather than saying "I need to lose 90 pounds or so".
Each month, my goal will change. BTW, my monthly goal is at least 8 pounds loss.
Peace and lets get going!

Thanks for the welcome, guys!
Dave - depends where you go in the UK! But you're right, there are some really beautiful and interesting places. But then I suppose that's true of anywhere ;)

Hi! I am trying to lose my freshman 25. I am trying to lose 30 pounds to get back to my original weight. At the same time, I want to be lean and toned. I enjoy activities like running on the treadmill, doing the elliptical and dancing.

I am 34 years old, married and a father of a 2.5 year old. They are the motivators for me to reach my goal. I started the new journey on 8/21/06 @307 lbs and as of June '08, I have lost around 108 lbs. I have been able to keep 100 lb weight loss since Sept. '07. What keeps me on track is the Traineo community, vision of a healthy and fit future and the mini-goals below. *GOAL 1 = 244 lbs, Date = 2/15/07 Date Met = 2/7/07 *GOAL 2 = 229 lbs, Date = 3/22/07 Date Met = 3/30/07 ________________________ *GOAL 3 = 199 lbs, Date = 6/30/08 Date Met = 6/5/08 *GOAL 4 = 185 lbs, Date = 09/30/08 Date Met = TBD (185 is my "ultimate" goal. Then build muscle.)
Hobbies/Interests: Baseball, White Sox, bowling, WII, Xbox 360, PSP, XM, Opie and Anthony radio show, Ron and Fez radio show, variety of music, working out, running.
Personal Records: 5K - 26:18 (4/14/08-8:29/mile pace) 10K- 54:56-9/16/07-(8:43/mile pace) 10 Mile Run - CXLD due to injury Marathon - 10/12/08
Advice: - Set a Deadline: "A goal is a dream with a deadline - Napolean Hill." - Set Mini Goals - They help you accomplish small milestones on your way to the "ultimate" goal. - Track your progress. - Plan everything out. Daily workout routines, meals, etc. - Be patient. Your goals will eventually be met, if you work hard.
