Tonight my friend is coming over and wants pizza. This is my biggest trigger!! It will be the ultimate challenge of the golden rules. If I can eat this slowly, I can eat ANYTHING slowly.

Success is not a race, be patient. Success leads to success. Success is always a work in progress. Success doesn't come to you--you go to it. Success is a journey, not a destination. Focus on the process. Some people dream about success... while others wake up and work hard at it. Success is achieved and maintained by those who try-and keep trying. Everyday is a good day to SUCCEED! If at first you don't succeed-try, try again

I'm here because I need to be here. Seems like I can't fill myself up lately. Starting the ICMUT program is just what I need.
I'm a retired Grammy, mom, and wife. We've traveled the world thanks to the Air Force. I retired from a hectic and demanding job in our Nation's capital.
Since retirement, life has been grand. I'm busy with Mah Jong, golf, Meals on Wheels, church, family, friends, and travelling. I'm an avid walker.
I have tried to eat low carb most of my life. Weight goes up and down, so guess that isn't the solution. Have wanted to eat intuitively and am very excited about ICMUT.
Looking forward to our shared journey. Love to give and get support.
Life is good.

Had pizza today, too. Managed to eat fairly slowly and ended up eating less than 2 pieces.
How did you do? Challenge? Let's do it....lol

I'm aiming to lose 50lb and have a bodfat percentage of 25% by september.
Update: I have 29lb to lose, and my BF% is 36% (down from 42).

Why entertain the temptation in the first place? Why worry about eating it slowly, when you could just not eat it and avoid the general badness that pizza brings? Since I've cut out all the bad stuff, it has become increasingly easier to choose not to eat them, eating slowly IMHO will just give an excuse to continue eating the foods that made you overweight in the first place. Either way, good luck with the techniques.

http://anotherfatguy.wordpress.com/ I'm looking at a total weight loss of over 130 lbs (60 kg for those of you in Europe like me...), from 150 kg to 90 kg (330 lbs to 198 lbs). I'm a 36 year old man and am REALLY tired of... well being tired.
So far I've been training like a mofo, and have totally revisited my diet - so far so good, 1/3 of my goal HAS been met - YIPPEE!!
Have met some great people here, and looking forward to meeting even more here on traineo - don't be afraid to bombard me with motivation - I'll take all you can give me :)

Collin, this is a part of the "I can make you thin" group. You have to follow the 4 golden rules and one of them is to eat what you want not what you think is good and another rule is to eat slowly and thoughtfully. I haven't seen the show myself but they were talking about it earlier.

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

and you probably aren't that far over your daily calorie requirements, including carbs, protein, and fat. That wouldn't be a total failure at all, just not something you should do often

This isn't a "diet" but a way of eating/living...no forbidden foods or calorie counting etc...
Of course if you have an allergy or are like me diabetic then of course you don't eat anything you want but other than that it's all good
We shall see right?

I'm aware of the idealogy. I have the book and CD, but seriously, if your goal is to lose weight, control your eating habits, this isn't a sustainable long-term approach, there is no substitute for hard work and proper eating, that means limiting or to an extent eliminating bad stuff like pizza, chips etc. Just eating them slowly or leaving a little bit on the plate isn't going to be enough. However, this is all just my opinion and based on my recent experiences, so take it with a pinch of salt.
What I will say though is the main thing is, as long as we all alter bad eating/lifestyle habits it can only be good thing.

Ok, first of all - while I appreciate your thoughts on me never eating pizza - the REALITY is that in my lifetime I WILL come across many events that involve pizza. I have never in my life been able to sitdown and just enjoy 1 or 2 pieces. Pizza is my end-all-be-all favorite food. I'm not going to imagine the rest of my life "avoiding the general badness".
Me learning to appreciate the pizza and only have a slice now and then, rather than being in a pizza eating contest with myself - is a huge thing.
Also, I am not going into this thinking I'm going to lose weight eating pizza as a main staple!! get over it. I exercise, I'm drinking my water, I'm putting brakes on my need to overeat.
AND to all - Sorry to report that my friend called and wasn't feeling well so we've tabled pizza night to Friday... and YES I plan to eat it slowly and enjoy every bite.

This is a great epiphany. I think , for many of us, the reason many eating plans have failed is the list of forbidden... never ever foods, like pizza and icecream. Our lifestyles just can not sustain that. I think learning to deal with these foods in our life and lose weight AND keep it off is the key.
It seems like the " I can make you thin" gives you some tools for that. I have successful been on the JUDD plan for over one year with the same results - no forbidden foods or food groups - just getting a grip on the calorie intake and calorie outtake. Eat less, exercise more.
A total side note.... it seems like we are all getting access to all the groups' forums even if we are not members.... That might not be constructive if we are trying to build relationships and gain support around a theme. I am not a member of "I can make you thin" and here I am. I think the pizza topic will get a lot of hits.

Just a couple of things, I didn't join this group, I didnt even realise it was a group, I just responded to it because it was on the recently posted topics, so maybe my opinions/thoughts seemed more confrontational than I intended as I honestly didn'y realise this was a group specific thread, so I apologise for that.
Secondly, I do still stand by my comments, and these ARE based on experience, I've followed his tips/information etc and have found as a weight loss/lifestyle change it just doesn't cut it, however this is not to say that it doesn't have merits in other area's, I particularly feel that the whole positive thinking and visualisation techniques are sound.
Anyways, I'll remove myself from the discussion before I go upsetting anyone else, but good luck with your goals, and I hope it's a success for anyone trying to follow it!
Peace!

Well. For sure the Paul McKenna way of losing weight stirs up some bad feelings for those who are only eating foods that are good for them.

Don't mind having varying points of view. I've been on just about every diet plan out there. I take the good and leave what doesn't work for me. Customizing our own journey is a good thing. Right now, I am intriqued by Dr. McKenna's program.
It will become natural that the people who are working that particular program will stick around. Others will lose interest, but I do enjoy the interchange as long as they are reasonable and not putting people's ideas down in negative ways. Colin was a gentleman and certainly doesn't dampen my desire to keep going on my new journey. Thanks for all the input. It's great to know that there are others out there strivng to understand something new. We'll find our way to good health together.

Thanks Colin. I am totally ok with you standing by your comments; I would only hope for that. It's good to know you tried this and your experience wasn't all you hoped for. Everyone wants to know opinions and feedback when they're trying to find what's going to work.
I am posting tonight to say we are (obviously) all different people who all respond to different things. I'm with Carol K
been on just about every diet plan
...have tried it all.
Have paid $ have spent time, and have lost it before - losing it hasn't been my problem; keeping it off - ding!* There's my struggle.
I just went out to dinner with our friend in from Canada. He was buying and said, "order what you want" and he meant it. I used everything I have learned (in just two 47 min shows by some UK guy in a cool suit) and I not only ordered less than I would have (c'mon someone is buying?)
I ate 1/2 much as I would have... and oh my, I have a doggy bag leftover for lunch. What is that? leftovers?
At this point, if I never lose any wt from the 4 golden rules but rather, I enjoy my eating life (and it doesn't haunt me like it used to, no joke)... well that is COOL!!

Although DH and I were buying I brought home a big part of my dinner last night...spinach and shrimp salad...cause I was close to full and had some cheesecake waiting at home for me...low carb/sugar since I am diabetic and was plenty full.
I will probably have the rest or some of the salad for lunch today so I get to enjoy it twice! LOL
