Hi everyone. Newbie.
I came across the show in TLC one week ago. From that moment on, starting with lunch, I followed the 4 golden. I even made it through dinner with relatives from out of town, a bday party, and lots of chances to overeat.
I feel great about my accomplishments, but got on the scale to see myself 0 lbs down in one week. I am going to ride it out, but this was very discouraging.
I do however feel great that my "speed eating" has gone by the wayside. My hubby who used to notice how fast I eat is finished long before me now. I grew up with 3 brothers and learned as a child that eating slow meant you didn't get any 2nds. HA!
I am amazed at how long I can make my meal last, and also how many leftovers I had this week.
Anyway, I Tivo'd episode 2 and can't wait to get home today to watch it. I find my hunger most days at zero, with no starvation feeling, which is awesome.

I am a 33 year old mother of a six year old boy. He's my life. Recently joined the local YMCA and started working out. I really enjoy it. I have been wanting to try to loose weight for a while but can't get motivated. Now I'm really ready!

I'm your average middle aged guy that like a lot of Americans is seriously overweight. I've tried every diet and while I've had some success I seem to always wind up back where I started (and more). My current goal is to reach my goal (or at least be heading towards it) before I reach the age of 45.

As I've stated in another post, I have a different mindset about this system. For me, this is NOT a weight loss program. Its a method to relearn (or learn for the first time) how to properly eat. A side benefit of this is that it should bring weight loss, but for me, I'm looking for the freedom and relief I'm finding and getting from being in control, and not having food control me. I know that by accomplishing this, weight loss will come. I'll find it fantastic if I reach my goal weight with this method alone, but again, I just want control of my eating for now. I know that once I have that control, then if I need to add in other forms of weight loss then it will be so much easier than in the past.
Stay positive, and stick with it. This is so simple and it just makes so much sense (at least to me it does).

I'm here because I need to be here. Seems like I can't fill myself up lately. Starting the ICMUT program is just what I need.
I'm a retired Grammy, mom, and wife. We've traveled the world thanks to the Air Force. I retired from a hectic and demanding job in our Nation's capital.
Since retirement, life has been grand. I'm busy with Mah Jong, golf, Meals on Wheels, church, family, friends, and travelling. I'm an avid walker.
I have tried to eat low carb most of my life. Weight goes up and down, so guess that isn't the solution. Have wanted to eat intuitively and am very excited about ICMUT.
Looking forward to our shared journey. Love to give and get support.
Life is good.

Welcome.
The freedom from overeating and yet still eating what I want is worth it. Bound to be weight loss with eating less food. Ride it out. We can only benefit from this.
I know that we will be melting away. Our body needs only adjust. Patience is not a virture of an overeater....lol

I agree with what you've all said.
One thing is for sure, I don't have that somewhat obsessed feeling about "good food vs. bad food". I have always put food into those categories and for me, just having things not off limits takes away the constant thinking about how I want to gorge on the bad food!
I am going to stick with it regardless... because it's nice to be the one who takes home the doggy bag for a change, rather than cleaning my plate for every last morsel.

Hi, I started the Paul McKenna Diet and want to keep track of how it goes. I have about 20 pounds to lose. Those last 10 are always the point where I throw in the towel.

I havent weighed myself yet. Today would be one week on the diet. I'm going to wait till tomorrow morning and I just pray that I have lost atleast a pound. It's gotta be very frustrating for L to not have lost anything at all.

It's really not worth worrying about the scales too much, there are so many variables involved that its very difficult to know exactly what is happening to your body just by the scales. Since you are just starting, I can highly recommend taking body measurements, and take these each week, this will give you a much better idea of whats happening. You could for instance lost 2 lbs but retained the same in water.
Good luck with your future progress!

It's not my first time losing weight, but I feel committed to making it the last time. I mean to reach goal and stay there!

I'm with Colin.
Body girth measurements is important. If there is anything I have learned about this process, do NOT rely on the scale by itself. So many people do that, and then get discouraged and quit if they don't see change. Yet, at the same time, they overlook things like losing inches or feeling better, or seeing better blood work or blood pressure readings, feeling stronger, having more endurance, getting ill less, etc... etc... etc...
It's about being healthier... not just a number on the scale. And the more weight you have to lose, the longer the process and the more important it becomes to appreciate ALL progress made in changing your lifestyle for the better.

Hi, this is L the OP, but I'm now Elle
Somehow I managed to hose my account, and waited all day for a password to be sent; saw on another board that they don't send them and most have had to open a new account. If they ever send it I'll close the first one.
Anyway, I agree with measurements and I'm going to give the scale a rest. I'm just going to roll with it and ignore that pesky scale.
I didn't get a ton from the emotional eating episode, except the inspiration from the guy who lost all that weight. I don't really eat when I'm emotional, I just love eating. lol. Love = emotion. Hey wait a minute!!

Doing low carb and using Paul Mackenna's 4 rules... 1. Eat what you like 2. Eat when you are hungry 3. Eat Consciously...chew each bite 20X 4. Stop when you are full

LOL Elle we are on the same page with the emotional thing!
I guess "just wanting something to nosh on or that cookie sure looks good" isn't emotion but that's OK the tapping thing might help to divert us!
