I'm here because I need to be here. Seems like I can't fill myself up lately. Starting the ICMUT program is just what I need.
I'm a retired Grammy, mom, and wife. We've traveled the world thanks to the Air Force. I retired from a hectic and demanding job in our Nation's capital.
Since retirement, life has been grand. I'm busy with Mah Jong, golf, Meals on Wheels, church, family, friends, and travelling. I'm an avid walker.
I have tried to eat low carb most of my life. Weight goes up and down, so guess that isn't the solution. Have wanted to eat intuitively and am very excited about ICMUT.
Looking forward to our shared journey. Love to give and get support.
Life is good.

Hi, everyone,
I did well yesterday during the day. Was pleased at how little it took to fill me up. Awkward choosing "anything" I want to eat, but did it.
Now, for the bad news.....we went to a movie. I did manage to stop eating the popcorn halfway thru the bag. That led to stopping for milkshake....hubby's idea..on the way home. Did I protest? No....we are in vacation-mode, staying 2 months in Florida. Anyway, sugar got the best of me.
Today, not letting that get in my way. Eating from hunger. Going out to Easter buffet this evening...real test.
How are you all doing? What about dessers/sugar? My downfall. Sure they trigger binge eating. Hope he addresses sugar in programs.

I am a size 12, and eat very little, so its been hard to try and sift the extra poundage.
I am currently a student, and am away from home 12 hours a day at uni.
I am now determined more than ever to try and loose some weight, for graduation!

I'm *starting* to enjoy running - at least on my treadmill. And I can't wait for ChaLean Extreme to come out this December! Hoping my hubby will do that with me. :)
Okay...new goal (for now) of 150 lbs. 152 lbs would give me a "normal" BMI for the first time in 15 years, and 150 lbs will mean a total of 100 lbs lost. That's only 14 lbs away! I can DO this!

Carol - I am a total sweets addict. That said, there are some things that for a long time I just didn't even taste because I knew that it would lead to me eating more of it than I wanted to. So sometimes, I think it's best to just say no to certain things until you get to a point where you can actually exercise more self-control.
Another thing I've noticed is that since I don't eat so many sweets anymore, some things that tasted bland before taste really sweet now. Like rice cakes. I used to hate rice cakes...they tasted like flavored paper to me. Now, I am totally hooked on these yogurt & berries or chocolate rice cakes. Yum! They taste really sweet to me now, and they are a great way for me to "indulge" my sweet tooth without all the extra fat and calories in candy and stuff.
Good luck in finding what works for you, and hope you enjoy your Easter buffet tonight!

Words to live by: "Now's the time to grab the steering wheel of your life. Delve deep within yourself and take responsibility for your health and behavior. Ask yourself hard questions and face the truth of what needs to be done. Weight loss is not always easy or fair but you are the only one that can lose weight for you. Take a turn for the better!"
Goals: 1) Lose ~45 pounds 2) Work out at least 6 days a week 3) Eat healthier consistently
I will reward myself at the following weights: 240, 235, 230, 225, 220, 215, 205, 200, 195, 190
I will reassess my goals after I have met the above goals.

Ivie,
That's really sound advice. Thanks for sharing!
Good luck with the buffet Carol. Remember, everything in moderation!

Check on my progress at http://www.garbagethatgoo.com!
It's not my first time losing weight, but I feel committed to making it the last time. I mean to reach goal and stay there!

There are some things like bread, chips, crackers etc... that I just can't stop on, once I start. So I don't bring them in my house.
I may occasionally eat a piece of bread out, but those are situations where I can't binge. That might be a better strategy for desserts... only have them when out to eat and not at home.
Still, if they trigger you to binge at home, perhaps cut them out and substitute a piece of fruit instead.
