Hi, I started the Paul McKenna Diet and want to keep track of how it goes. I have about 20 pounds to lose. Those last 10 are always the point where I throw in the towel.

I know on the show, he mentioned not weighing yourself everyday. I was just wondering what everyone's plans are to weigh themselves next. I'm going to weigh myself in one weeks time which will be on Tuesday.

i havent watched his videos but i weigh in once a week b/c your weight fluctuates from day to day and your food is still metabolizing from day to day.

I have weighed both daily and weekly in the past. I have very recently switched back to weekly b/c I was starting to get a little wacky about daily fluctuations.

I've always been bigger. Maybe not classified as being fat because I carry it pretty well. But, well, I'm fat. There's no fooling myself. In January, months of hard work paid off as my wife got pregnant with what will be our first child. I had been exercising a bit until that point, but I decided to ramp it up a notch and get my weight to where I can be healthy and be around a long time for my wife and kid.
I've been known to drop 40-50 pounds in 5 months or so on a few occasions, only to slowly gain that weight back over a couple years. This time is different. I know everybody says that and usually that statement doesn't come to fruit, but I've got that incentive...becoming a daddy.
Got a blog rolling- rokandroll.blogspot.com
I post on it a few times a week. Mostly fitness stuff. I try to be somewhat humorous. Check it out if you're REALLY bored.

I weigh in almost daily just to help understand my body fluctuations. Still don't understand them though. I do know if you knock back the "eat this and get your meal free" porterhouse steak, it's best not to step on the scale for a couple of days.

I'm your average middle aged guy that like a lot of Americans is seriously overweight. I've tried every diet and while I've had some success I seem to always wind up back where I started (and more). My current goal is to reach my goal (or at least be heading towards it) before I reach the age of 45.

I weigh weekly, and while he said on the show to do like monthly, I'll probably still weigh weekly out of habit. As I posted over on the mckenna.com site though, I have a very different view on this system. This isn't a Diet but just a new way of eating (with a benefit of losing weight). So while my goal is weight loss, thats just a side effect of what I hope is a lifestyle change for me. Even if I only lose 1 pound a week, I'll reach my goal in 3 years and thats a lot less time than it took for me to put all this weight on.
Losing weight is important, but my mindset isn't focused on that, but on changing my eating habits (and weight loss will be the natural result from this change). This to me is the more permenant solution (changing my eating habits and getting control of my eating). And a permenant solution is what I'm looking for myself. I'm tired of quick fixes and "instant" results that then have me putting more weight back on later because I didn't learn anything or it was a short term fad that you can't live with. I can see myself living with this method.

I'm here because I need to be here. Seems like I can't fill myself up lately. Starting the ICMUT program is just what I need.
I'm a retired Grammy, mom, and wife. We've traveled the world thanks to the Air Force. I retired from a hectic and demanding job in our Nation's capital.
Since retirement, life has been grand. I'm busy with Mah Jong, golf, Meals on Wheels, church, family, friends, and travelling. I'm an avid walker.
I have tried to eat low carb most of my life. Weight goes up and down, so guess that isn't the solution. Have wanted to eat intuitively and am very excited about ICMUT.
Looking forward to our shared journey. Love to give and get support.
Life is good.

Hi,
Ummmmmm...weigh in....oh, the ugliness of it all. I tend to pay too much homage to the "scale god," so am going to have a few weeks of settling into the program before I weigh myself. Right now, feeling how my clothes fit and I feel will be enough.

Yeah, I know how hard the truth hurts, and how hard it is to face those numbers. Heck, look at my weight! Up until about a month ago I refused to get on scales for a LONG time, and actually convinced myself that my weight wasn't really changing much as I felt and looked the same. But when my Doctor's office couldn't even weigh me a month or so ago, I knew it was time to face the music, make it real, and then do something with the feelings that came from seeing my real weight in real numbers. So I went out and picked up a scale from WalMart that was rated for up to 400 pounds (I knew I wasn't there yet) and weighed myself. It wasn't pretty, and I hated seeing the numbers it showed, but it has now given me a weight I never want to see again, and the motivation to lose this.
Also, if you don't weigh yourself now, how will you really know what you've accomplished in a week or so? Plus it gives you bigger bragging rights later on when you reach your goal (or as you are getting closer to your goal) to tell people how much you've lost (and that you've seen it all come off, and not just guessing at how much came off the first few weeks before you weighed).
So yes, the scale is scary, but personally for me, getting that starting weight (and I need to do measurements too soon so I have that too) is part of getting me in the mindset I needed to really work on this and stay committed to what I'm wanting to accomplish.
No pressure...

Doing low carb and using Paul Mackenna's 4 rules... 1. Eat what you like 2. Eat when you are hungry 3. Eat Consciously...chew each bite 20X 4. Stop when you are full

OH How I hate Mr Scale! LOL
One way you can weigh daily and have it work for many is to record that daily number and then divide by 7 to get a more "real" number.
I think I will try once a week and weigh on Sunday or Monday.
Hoping for a good number this week!

I am a student in university so we all know what that means....
The freshmen 15 increased to 50, but that was over 4 years. I finally made it to the gym at the end of September and haven't looked back.
23 pounds down, 27 to go.

I normally weigh myself every time I am at the gym. I gave up pizza for lent and stuck to it, now I am going to do another mock lent and give up weighing myself for 40 days and see how that goes Today was the last weigh in and I haven't changed. I also think that it will give me more motivation to see a big change in the number when I weigh myself 40 days from now... not including sundays... so a few more then 40 days.

I signed on to the 20 lb challenge and the weigh in is on Thursday so that's when I'll do it.
Mike, I give you a lot of credit for facing the truth. It must have been quite startling to have your doctor not be able to weigh you... Kind of a shock that you needed though as you've done something very positive with it!
I felt the same way about not wanting to weigh myself. For months I've avoided it, even though I could tell by how my clothes fit and how I felt that it was not going to be good.
Saturday I took the plunge and it was almost as bad as I thought, but not quite to the highest point I was at last time. You're right that it helps to have a number to look at so you know where you are starting.
Here's to both of us losing a lot of weight (and everyone else too!)

I have battled with my weight since graduating High School. I stopped playing sports and the pounds poured on. I am determined and WILL get back to my High School weight!
I gained 60 pounds in about 9 years. (I was in a horrific car accident and that didn't help with the weight issue.) I would like to feel better about myself and shed these unwanted pounds. I was doing great, lost 10 pounds! Then injured my back and those 10 pounds came right back on... but no more then 10. So I'd like to get back to the GREAT feeling again. My goal date is my 2 year wedding anniversary. I WILL be back to my high school weight my then!

I have lost 4.2 pounds! and have NOT gained anything yet.
I know that it hasen't been that long, but this 4.2 pounds feels GREAT!
Before I started this I had lost 10 pounds on my own, I was feeling AWSOME! But I injured my back and the weight found it's way back to me. Which was OK, at least I didn't GAIN any more then what I had originally lost.
