Okay, who can hold the superman/woman pose the longest? Here is the demo pic. Rules: Can keep thighs, pelvis, abs on ground. Must keep knees and below and chest and above up off the ground. Arms must be extended in front of the head as shown. We can keep this open for 1 week. So get your times in by next Wed and I'll post results next Thurs. Good luck everyone!!

Well, like I said in the other thread, I could probably hold this one for a min or two. I'll say two and see how I do ;)

Owwwwweeeeeeeee...ok, I was able to go for 2 mins 12 secs. So, I guess I will try to beat that tomorrow. I really started to feel it around 50 secs. I felt it most in the upper & lower back, abs & hamstrings. Whew!

Wow!!!! That's a GOOD one!! I only got in 1 minute and 8 seconds but THAT HITS THE SPOT! You all need to give this one a go.
1.) I started to get my heart pumping
2.) I felt the tightness in my tummy (Lots of tightness!)
3.) I literally began sweating instantly!
This was a GREAT suggestion Lily -- thanks for starting it Rachael!

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

I am tempted to flop down in the floor right now at work, but I'm pretty sure I would get some "What the heck are you doing?" looks if I did that. But oh, you are so on.

*sigh* I've gone and pulled something in my back. I'm afraid to do the superwoman and make it worse. Maybe it'll be okay by Wed. *crosses fingers*

Ok, I suffered through 3 minutes 20 seconds! (I'm sweating like a pig.) I can barely type this because I'm still shaking just after doing it.
What a workout!

Well, I held the superwoman for 2 minutes last night, but probably due to the back strain, it was not perfect form. I've got the heating pad on it at work today. When my back gets better I'll try again.
As I was doing it though, I realized that the way I usually do this exercise is with my hips, tummy, and chest on the ground and thighs mostly off the ground. I found it really hard to keep the thighs on the ground and the chest up. Maybe this has to do with my center of gravity...?

Be really careful w/your back, Rachael...very easy to hurt it, and it takes a long time to recoup...

I've had the heating pad on it all day at work. I just didn't want to throw down with Dave and then sound like I was making an excuse. I have a lower back injury from HS that flares up now and again.
