http://anotherfatguy.wordpress.com/ I'm looking at a total weight loss of over 130 lbs (60 kg for those of you in Europe like me...), from 150 kg to 90 kg (330 lbs to 198 lbs). I'm a 36 year old man and am REALLY tired of... well being tired.
So far I've been training like a mofo, and have totally revisited my diet - so far so good, 1/3 of my goal HAS been met - YIPPEE!!
Have met some great people here, and looking forward to meeting even more here on traineo - don't be afraid to bombard me with motivation - I'll take all you can give me :)

I'd do it in a heartbeat, but my doc says no push-ups for now until my shoulder's healed

Quoting: wayofthewarrior What about if we did most reps in a minute for 5 different exercises then added up all of the reps to get an individual score??
Who said anything about definitely doing push-ups? Stake your claim superstar!! What 5 exercises would suit you?

Not sure it would be so fun - I'd get more motivation being able to tell people I did the basic army fitness test
As far as exercises are concerned, what other things other than sit-ups CAN I do with a bum shoulder??

name the game.

Is there a prize for the winner?
So - 2 minutes each of 5 exercises with 1 minute in between each and you keep a running total to see how many you can do?
How about: squats, jumping jacks, sit-ups, lunges and ...
I am trying to come up with something besides push-ups. Something like a bicycle (more ab work) or mountain climbers (I really do not like those!!) Does anyone have a jump rope?

That wpould be cool, but I don't know how we would govern it. What about a virtual 'We are not worthy' sent to the winner, ha ha.
Quoting: melissaj 2 minutes each
Upping the bar, I see what you did there. A minute was the original plan, but I'm not one to hold a lass back when she's got phys in her sights.

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

We used to do these horrid tuck jumps in a fitness class I had once. You have to jump and tuck your knees up toward your chest. I mean you can't really get into a full tuck, but you're supposed to get as close as you can. It's a little ambiguous I know, and people did cheat.
Also, there are burpies...

He means maximum reps in 1 minute for each exercise. No breaks between exercises so they go back to back for 5 mins.

1 set = 1 min squats, 1 min jumping jacks, 1 min sit-ups, 1 min lunges and 1 min burpees...max reps you can do for that exercise in 1 min. Totaled, 1 set should last 5 mins. You're allowed 1 min rest between sets. Do 3 sets, & post best/total

One Set:
1-min of squats (how many did you do?)
1-min of jumping jacks (how many did you do?)
1-min of situps (how many did you do?)
1-min of lunges (how many did you do?)
1-min of burpees (how many did you do?)
1-min of rest
[/One Set]
Do 3 Sets.
what was your best set? (I suggest sum of all parts, but I'm sure we'd all be curious how we all did on the micro scale as well)
what was your total?

Seems like a nice little challenge here. But I do have 2 little questions.
1 â€" We are doing all of these exercises un-weighted correct?
2 â€" Do you think this may have any negative effect on my upcoming routine change (I am switching my current program to a stronglift 5x5 Beginner Program) this coming Monday. Maybe i can find a way to incorporate the challenge. thanks
