Damn... I tried last night and got 94 seconds

That's nothing to sneeze at, Dave! I'm sure you'll hit your goal tonight!

...as an aside, I don't know HOW y'all work out at night...kudos to you, but I definitely can't do it...

kudos to those that can get their ass out of bed early enough to work out before work!! I go to the gym on the way home from work; it's on the way and if I don't go before I get home, I'm probably not going.

Last night I got to 62 seconds and then felt like I was going to die. I am not sure if I will be able to hold that position any longer than that.

I got 90 seconds. I was shaking and hurting every where. Random parts of me kept giving out and I kept gritting my teeth and telling my back or arm or whatever to get back in position. Haha! I think I was actually grunting at one point. I'm sure the other ladies in the gym thought I was a little wacko.

Dang, Richard...ya got me! 115 seconds, best outta three today...guess this makes up for the "holding your toes" challenge?

Yes, I didn't do so hot on the toe-grabbing-thing, but I'm glad I was able to stay up as long as I did with this plank challenge. I'm thinking of trying it again to see if I can get to 2.5 minutes like I said I would.

Ok, I'm back! I was able to withstand 192 seconds of pure torture on my lower back and abs! That's 3 minutes and 12 seconds -- more than what I was aiming for. Wow, that made me sweat!

I think I just raised the bar a little.

105 seconds up from 67. Probably could've gotten to 2min+, but the dog decided that my ear needed removal.

She played keepaway for a bit, but I finally cornered her and got it back. She gave it a hell of a wet willy though.

How in the world do you do that 3 times in a row. I am still sore from my 90 sec that I did 2 days ago.

OMG...you've no idea how sore I am! LOL...in way of explanation though, I have always had a strong core. I think it's from years of yoga & a love for working the back muscles w/weights. (Who doesn't love a good hammer row?? haha) And I give myself a rest of AT LEAST one full minute between tries. I've found that if I push myself over an over, I can usually do more on subsequent sets - whether it's arms, legs, back, etc.

Am I weird, I don't feel sore after doing this -- maybe right after, but that's it?

I try this myself, but I find that my attempts get worse and worse.

I do a whole series of core exercises, the plank being just one of them. It's probably all the other ones making me sore ;) so, no...don't think you're weird

What can I say? I'm a bit of a masochist...lol j/k! Nah...It's a mental thing for me...I psych myself into beating my previous time, that's all...I'm competitive, even w/myself ;)

This is how I work: my brain tells my body, "you're feeling pain!" and then my brain tells my body, "How about a little more pain from where that came from?" and my body usually replies, "You just told me that that was painful, how can you, being the brain of this operation, tell me to go for more pain? I know you take precedence over me when it comes to decisions, but ... access denied!" Survival mode kicks in.

Haha! Sounds like my body. I haven't had a chance to try this challenge yet but I will try tonight with my workout.. Hope I can at least to a minute and keep up with the crowd.

What will our next challenge be, Dave?! Keep them coming I love the chance to try new things!

Dave, were you able to suffer 5 minutes of pure agony?

LOL, somehow I'm actually disappointed I didn't suffer 5 minutes of pure agony... That said, I did 5 sets of crunches on a balance ball holding a 10lb weight to the back of my head, then got a 137sec plank in, and since it was a challenge with my friend that cost me a protein shake, I probably couldn't have done much more. But, I do have a number to shoot for now

Plank Challenge: CLOSED

Winner: Richard H. at 3min 12sec!!!

Next challenge? hmmm...

Hmm... perhaps some other exercises you do prepared you better for the plank than the ones I do. Plus, it's not as difficult for guys, as I mentioned earlier.

Hey Rachael, did you ever get a chance to try it again?
