This challenge is not about who can swim the longest or even stay under water the longest -- It's about who can drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day!
So get your water bottles, containers, or gallon buckets and drink that water!
Just post your name and how much water you drank in a 24 hour span.

I've always been bigger. Maybe not classified as being fat because I carry it pretty well. But, well, I'm fat. There's no fooling myself. In January, months of hard work paid off as my wife got pregnant with what will be our first child. I had been exercising a bit until that point, but I decided to ramp it up a notch and get my weight to where I can be healthy and be around a long time for my wife and kid.
I've been known to drop 40-50 pounds in 5 months or so on a few occasions, only to slowly gain that weight back over a couple years. This time is different. I know everybody says that and usually that statement doesn't come to fruit, but I've got that incentive...becoming a daddy.
Got a blog rolling- rokandroll.blogspot.com
I post on it a few times a week. Mostly fitness stuff. I try to be somewhat humorous. Check it out if you're REALLY bored.

I thought that was from a lady who held on too long from peeing? I never heard of the water story. But I did find this online.
So, with that said, don't over due it. All of us will vary in what we can handle -- and if we get the right amount each day, this will help with cleansing the system and provide us with many great weightloss benefits.
With all challenges though, know yourself and what you can and can't handle. Have fun and be safe!

Isn't 8 glasses of water per day the recommended amount of water to drink?

Yes. But I can honestly say I barely get 3 glasses in per day! Most of the time it's everything else: soda, juice, milk, etc.

That's awesome, you seem to be doing very well on the Biggest Loser too -- that must play a big part in your lossage, wouldn't you say?

Hey Richard...Thanks yes I think the water definately plays a big part..I have also found out if I am not hydrated enough, my exercise seems harder - but if I am really well hydrated then it is magically easier so it seems...unless it is in my mind?!?

No, I think you're right. If you have the fuel, (food and water,) for your body, it will go a lot longer and more efficiently.
Btw, I got down 3 1/2 glasses of water today... Woo hoo!

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they haev to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary.
Impossible is NOTHING.

I cut everything but water out and maybe one "indulgence" a week int eh form of a fresh fruit smoothie or, less often, a small gatorade after a particularly intense workout so I drink about 80 or more ounces of water a day; I have a 32oz (actually slightly bigger) water bottle that I fill up at least twice at work (once when I get there, once sometime during the day) and at dinner I usually drink at least once glass.
It's funny, if you force that change for a week, you won't even want anything else.
As far as being a "BIG FISH", I would qualify myself more as a "beached whale", but not for much longer!

I drink about 5 500ml litre bottles of water a day, usually 1 with each meal, and some before, during and after a workout. I no longer have any cravings for pepsi/coke, fruit juices etc.. I have some milk occasionaly, but count this in as my protein and in addition to my watar intake.

I carry a gallon jug in the car every morning. By the evening it's usually 3/4 of the way done. I then finish up at night in the house. I committed to this after I only started seeing weight loss after being hydrated like this.
I think that the body pretty much eliminates what is not used/needed during your day via evaporation, through the mouth, perpiration and urine, etc.
Quoting: rharpe who can drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day!
This is a perfectly normal amount of water per day.
Don't forget that your post workout water does NOT count toward your 8 glasses. This simply makes up for the water that you sweat out.

I drink around 3 Liters of water per day so I feel pretty good about my water intake. I've always been a big water drinker. In HS I played sports year round and coaches were always telling us to drink more water so I did and now I always have a bottle of water with me. I usually drink other stuff during the day too - diet green tea, a diet soda, or a cup of coffee so I get LOTS of liquids.

I've been active my entire life. From growing up playing soccer, rowing in college, and seriously lifting since high school, I am not mystified over the exceedingly simple relationship between strenuous exercise and eating a sensible diet, and being fit.
Current stats:
Immersing myself into full-blown German Volume Training.

Richard, one tip I would give to anyone with regards water - always have a water bottle with you, drink it without even thinking about it, pick it up and take a few swigs every 10-15mins or so, after a week it becomes habit, and you don't have to count how many glasses etc.. As soon as I ditched theconstant filling up of glasses and carried a half litre bottle around with me (or kept one at work, one at home, and one in the gym bag) it became something that I do without even thinking.

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

I drink about a gallon a day...
I have a 1qt 'container' that I keep at work and fill 3X daily while I'm working, and I have two nalgene bottles that are always either in my car, the gym, or my hand.

I'm with you, Richard. I'm not a big fan of regular water. I do try to take an Ethos Bottle with me (because they're 24 oz, more than any other reason), so I can get a whole one down in a school day. I do rather like flavored waters, and they're fortified, but also expensive in terms of money and calories.
So, I'll take your challenge. I'll try to get an Ethos and a 16.9 Dasani down every day.

Congrats to all of you that already have plenty of water in your diet!
Diana, looks like we are the only two that really need to step up to the challenge. I just bought myself a nice 52oz container that I'm going to try to bring with me everywhere I go.
So let's all raise our glasses, mugs, containers, or buckets and drink up some water!
