Please post by Saturday your highest sit-up score in the following format:
Name: Fred Flinstone
Age: 45
Height: 5' 9"
Waist: 42"
Sit-ups: 30
We will announce the King and Queen of the competition on Sunday. To make your score more accurate, please have someone count your sit-ups and watch the 30 second countdown.
Please be honest and have fun!

I've been interested in losing weight and gaining muscle here at traineo since late 2007. Its not until mid 2008 that i've actually started my training routine 5 days a week. Trying to get to under 19% body fat.

I would do it..... but I think it's open to discussion, because situps take correct form, if you try and do it quickly you're more likely to loose that form. Yet I'll go and do it now anyway.
Ok back..
Name: Stitch
Age: 18
Height: 5 ft, 4 inches.
Waist: 29 inches
Sit-ups: 22
...I'm female . You forgot to put gender in there

If you know the correct form -- please post it here. I just do it the way I was taught in gym class so many years ago.
Thanks, you're right, please specify your gender too.

It's an exercise that isn't meant to be done fast, the tension (don't know if that's the correct word ) in your muscles is the important aspect of it, so slow reps with much tension are much more suggestive.
A challenge I'd rather like is "How many sit ups (with the correct form) can you do in a row?"
Anyway I'll try to do the 30 seconds challenge till Sunday, I expect the worst :>

Yeah so that's true, you need correct form. But anyway it would be interesting to see how many "sit-ups" people can do in 30 seconds to the best of their ability

I don't do 'regular sit-ups' due o some pinched nerves in the ole back, instead I do crunches & bicycles and other core strengthening work.
Once though, I did 600 situps in "one sitting", heheh, but that was many yarns ago, before the back paid the price for the front...
Have fun!

I suppose if you have the correct form it will make the sit-ups go faster, right? Hey, I'm just hoping that I can at least get 5 in before the 30 seconds is finished! LOL! (I'm so old.)
I don't want anyone to hurt themselves -- if you think you can do it, go for it. But if you know that you can't, then don't.

I'll be entering my info tonight once I get it done. I hope more people will enter the challenge. At least two girls and two guys if possible?
This is just for fun though -- no pressure except for those that are doing the sit-ups at this moment. LOL!
Ideas on new challenges are always welcomed too.

We could have how many situps can you do in a row every week or something along those lines. I did like 150 in a row one time and I thought I was ballin. Dang Minu!!
I'll try to remember to do this at the gym tomorrow.

Rachael, that's a good idea! So maybe start Monday and have everyone post on Saturday? That way, on Sunday, we can take a break and tally up all the sit-ups.

Hmm, i tried to do them with correct form, but even if I didn't i could have done hardly more than 20.
Is there a formula for fast sit ups?

I don't know about you, but I did them as fast as my large body could handle!
(I hope my wife didn't count by twos!)
Maybe when you have tummy fat like me, you roll faster?

You need to get up, absorb your movement, let your upper body move back towards the floor, absorb again - and all that in about a second .... I could never do that, even if i had a sixpack and years of training.
Maybe time will prove me wrong.

You know, I asked my wife if she was sure she counted them correctly -- she claims she counted everyone of them? And I only stopped when the timer went off. (We used on of those digital cooking timers.)
Either I'm cheating some how or I must be the incredible bulk.

Well, I decided to go ahead and do it anyways.
Name: Rachael
Gender: F
Age: 22
Height: 5'9"
Waist: 38.25"
Sit-ups: 16
Note: Since I forgot about this challenge, I already did my whole other work out including abs and back so that was actually pretty tough for me.

This is pretty tough to measure in 30 seconds, I was going as fast I could but could only match Richard.
Time: 30 seconds
Name: Mike
Gender: M
Age: 30
Height: 5'10"
Waist: 34"
Sit-ups: 28
I have a decline bench at home and do situps getting my back parallel to the floor on the down motion. This challenge motivated me to see how many I could knock down in 3 minutes using that apparatus:
Time: 3 minutes
Exercise: Decline Bench Situps
Name: Mike
Gender: M
Age: 30
Height: 5'10"
Waist: 34"
Sit-ups: 116
I used an online timer. http://www.online-stopwatch.com/
Does anyone else have some ab workout ideas to share? I like all these ideas and motivation.

Mike, I conveniently won the challenge. You were a little late on your submission -- I JUST posted the results. Sorry -- I would have handed you the crown.
Thanks for participating though. Now for more ideas on what to do next!
