it would be great to be able to add foods one by one rather then the slider bar... that way you can see what you're eating during the week...

i second that.. would be cool if it could query the calorie database for you as well. i know that's a ton of work (being a web programmer myself), but it would be an amazing feature!

Hi Made Akin -
Just a quick note to let you know that right below the slider bar and there are small '+' icons next to each 'rating'.....click them to see what you should be rating yourself. These are based on the detailed medical guidelines for a healthy diet.
We're also working on other features to make it easier to add foods, add calories, rank totals and much much more.
Good luck with your health and fitness goals!

That would be really good, enter each food item as you eat it and watch how many calories (or grams of fat) you have left for the day.

Actually, that's not just good - It's critical. This service has very little value until that is in.

In June I turned 30 years old and after 11 years of commuting, I finally landed a job in the same city I live in as a webmaster. My wife and I are expecting our first child Oct. 31. I quit smoking Nov. 23, 2005 after a decade of the habit (five years as a "social smoker," five more years as a full-on regular).
Most of my issues falls in these two areas:
Consistency: I'm bad about not going to bed on time, so I don't get up on time and I don't do my workouts when I'd like to. I'd like to get a solid routine that rarely wavers. I want my routine to become so much a part of my life that if my friends ask me to go out I can say, "Well, I have my workout first, but I can meet you after that." I want this to be important.
Motivation: A few months ago I tried working out and started off well losing 4 lbs. After that initial loss, however, I stalled. I don't really know why. I was eating very well. I was doing my workouts. But nothing budged. I got frustrated and gave up after a month. I know I have the potential to lose much more than that in one month's time, so that small loss was unacceptable in my eyes.
Spending much of my day in front of the computer, I realize I'm living a sedimentary lifestyle that isn't healthy. Having a baby on the way has reshaped my thinking. I don't want to be out of breath and worn out chasing my kid. I want to run with my new child when the time comes. Finally, I fell like I've cheated my wife. When she met me, I was much thinner (around 190 lbs.), worked out regularly and ate right. I was a positive example and had a pretty decent body. Now, I'm round in the middle and overweight. I want to improve my body and give her the husband she married, at least the looks of the guy she fell in love with.

Yeah, I have to agree. I just came from peertrainer.com and they have that service, at least where you can post what you've eaten. They don't have a way to measure your calories on the fly though.
That's too bad. I'm ready to stick with one application, but looks like I'll have to do both.

Hi Guys,
We are planning on adding a calorie lookup feature for foods in the very near future, so please do stay tuned!

I've been using another site for doing the calorie lookup: www.nutrawatch.com. However, the interface feels really clunky, not nearly as slick as this site. I may still use nutrawatch to calculate my calories, then enter them here. But I would love to enter them here.

Yeah, I was thinking that would be nice too. But I admit that I've tried some other sites like this for keeping track of my diet/exercise information and one of the big things that makes me *STOP* using them is that it takes too much time and effort to put in everything I ate during a day. Looking through enormous lists of different types of food, trying to find a good match, etc.
One thing I really like about Traineo that I think sets it apart is the simplicity. Please think about that in adding this feature.

Hi Paul et al.
While we will be adding this feature, we won't be compromising the core simplicity of the site - the idea is that it only takes you about a minute a day to plug your data in, whereas a meal planner potentially will take much longer.
We are building the calorie calculator/meal planner to be extremely streamlined, and totally optional.
Thanks
Max

Another vote for keeping it simple. Add the intake diary or whatever, but keep the slider to rate your daily diet from poor to great.

I was using peertrainer.com until I found out about traineo.com. One of the great things about this is that it's online. I have been using that web site to put in my food during the day. It's simple, but it's a feature that's not featured on this site.
That's too bad.
