Photo is me about 5 years ago, and about 35 pounds lighter. Still, it's bad enough.
About me: 42 years old and still wearing the husky Garanimals. Got a new job three and a half years ago at a college in the mountains, so I figured I'd lose a lot of weight walking up hills and stairs, and working out at the school's gym. Instead, I've done most of my working out in the cafeteria, and put on 30 pounds since taking the job.
Time to finally get serious.
**Update 5/7/2007** OK, _now_ it's time to finally get serious. Did well for a few weeks, then slacked off for a few months and am now back above my weight when I started on Traineo.
**Update 1/6/2008** No, I mean it this time. Time to get serious. Really. You believe me, don't you?
**Update 6/10/2008** Did I say it was time to get serious before? Just kidding. *Now* is the time for getting serious. Had a physical a few weeks ago; blood pressure's up slightly; blood sugar still good, despite family history of diabetes and my lack of healthy lifestyle; cholesterol quite a bit high. Doc says make some changes or go on medicine for the BP cholesterol--think I'll try making the changes.

With a grand total of 9 pounds lost, I've now got a nice graphic that appears on my page saying "Goal Met." Problem is, I'm still about 60 pounds or so away from my goal weight. I'm guessing maybe I made a typo at some point in entering a weight update, and then corrected it, but the brief time the incorrect number was in there triggered the "goal met" action. Or maybe something else went screwy.
Is there an easy way to change this, so my stats continue to be based on my original data, or do I just need to reenter starting weight and goal weight and start the tracking process over again?

Father of two, husband, Ph.D. of computer engineering, video game aficionado. I have pretty good stamina - can go on long bike rides, take my kids hiking, lift heavy weights, but my figure needs toning. Losing weight through diet and exercise will get me there if I stick to it.

I'm having email problems with Traineo. When I post messages and tick the box to be emailed when replies to the thread occur, no emails come. WHen I forgot my password, I asked it to be sent (repeatedly) and no emails appeared. So I started a whole new account and have now added 2 motivators, neither of which have received their email asking them to confirm and become active.
I'd say something's wrong with the email facilities.
I'm using gmail, as are my motivators. I've checked the SPAM boxes, the messages are not in there. They are just not getting through! Please help.

I'm tracking my food on The Daily Plate.com, and following Dr. Peter Miller's Binge Breaker! program. Horrible name, but very sensible and down to earth approach.
I have never given up hope that i can reach my goal. But I did realize that I need to address some issues before I can do that.
I will not be around much, but hey, maybe I'll be back someday.

Hi,
I find it very confusing that when I quote someone, the thing says "quoting so-and-so" and the name is different from their username (maybe it's their ID?) I post on the JUDDDD group a lot, and there is a lot of quoting back and forth...it makes it very confusing to try to follow what's going on. Can't you make it so that the quoted name matches the user name?
Lisa (or, Frankie2 if you quote me!)

I feel like an idiot. I'm trying to send a 'Reply To' a message, but when I click on 'Send Message' I get an Unknown Error in the status bar of my browser. I've tried sending shorter messages and starting new ones, but the thing just won't send. ARGH!

Hey! I'm a college student who realized that clinical obesity is not a good thing, and wanted to change it. It's too bad the Wii and iPod contests are now expired, because I would have won with my motivation and weight loss. My end goal is to get down to 174 pounds, which is 56 pounds away.

I've been noticing that the graphs act buggy. For example, when I want Zoom into the graph to show my progress, and hover over specific dots/dates to look at the weight I was at that day, 60% of the time it won't work at all for that day and the other 39% of the time I have to hover in wierd random places to get my weight for that day.
The only hover that works correctly is on the last logged day of the weight graph. The rest are buggy or don't work. I use Firefox 2.0.0.5, but IE7 has the same problems.
Help?

There isn't one available here yet. Use calorie-count.com. I use it every day to log my food and calories and it works pretty great. Grades stuff nutritionally too and tells you the composition of your diet (proteins, fats, carbs, other).

Hey, I'm having problems with uploading a picture for myself. I had one up for a few weeks, and then I wanted to change it, so I deleted the current one, and then tried to upload a new one and no matter what picture I try now, it won't show up...just a broken image icon in it's place. Anything to do with using Firefox?

Hi! I am in charge of Marketing and Promotions at traineo and I feel very fortunate to be a part of a team that is dedicated to helping a large number of people reach their health and fitness goals.
Health and fitness has always played a large part of my life. Growing up, I played tennis, basketball, and ran. In college, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to represent my college in two disciplines - track/cross country as well as basketball. Currently I am still running competitively for a local track club and enjoying every minute of it.
I am always interested in meeting new people so feel free to send me a message. I am also continually looking for new ways to promote traineo and would love to hear from you if you have specific suggestions. Have a great day.

Just hearing from my motivators, completely wrong report again this week!!! This is so ridiculous, 4 months now and running with a problem every single week, if a report went out at all. This site is useless. Time to delete my account I guess... Hopefully that function works.
Its actually amusing some of the things the site messes up, it keeps taking my attached comments to my motivator report, not sending them (with the wrong report data anyway), and pushing them to the next week, so the comments for the last 2-3 week that should have been sent yesterday (Sunday), have changed from saying: To be sent today or tomorrow or Sunday, 5th August to saying: To be sent on Sunday, 12th August. Its almost comical at this point.
Anyone out there who has seen another solution with the motivator concept, please let me know?
Its so unfortunate, as I was one of their biggest evangelists for so long and must have gotten well over 100 people to sign up.

It also does not allow me to upload a picture of myself under my profile....

I have started two new blogs, one to follow my running and a Quest to a Marathon at blog.262quest.com and one to follow my weight loss at blog.2big.org, please check them out.
I am an IT professional / Developer which means I sit in front of a computer most of the day. This means very little exercise and plenty of time to eat.
I decided at the first of the year that I was going to lose weight. I started by changing my eating habits and started walking.
I did so for about a month and then added some weight lifting and started to run a little bit.
I have so far lost 29 lbs in just over 3 months and would like to lose just over another 50 lbs by the end of the year.
I have started running quite a bit more and am training to run the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta on July 4th (10k)
I need all the encouragement I can get because to do this I am getting up every morning during the week at 4:30 to go running. With a wife and kids this is really the only time that I can consistently do what I need to do.
I am driven, but at times get a bit discouraged because I don't have anybody to work out with or run with.
All in All, I know I can do it, I just have to remember that when I don't do so well, it is in the past and what matters is going forward.
