When I pick an activity from the dropdown list, select the length of time and enter the difficulty level, the automatic calorie calculator gives me a count that reads something like 20804 kcals. Can you tell me what this means? I thought I burned around 200 calories, not 20804.
Thank you for explaining this to me!

This is a bit odd, since I only signed up yesterday and I don't think I can lose 60 lbs in a day without even knowing it. I looked at the About Me tab, and my goal weight seems to be set at my current weight. I tried to change it back to my goal weight, but it says "Goal weight smaller than current!" Of course it's smaller than current. Isn't that the point of a weight loss site?

Sorry about the issue you're experiencing - the reason is that we're not able to have an email tied to two traineo accounts. The quick solution is to login to your email2 account, delete the account and decline the motivator request.

Once you've shut the old account down you'll be able to switch the email address on the first account.

Treadmill running is actually a fair bit lighter than outdoor running - less variation, and you're not actually moving, which also has a considerable impact. Also, treadmills tend to have a fair bit of bounce to them, further reducing the load, but they're a lot better for your knees.

I understand the encouragement factor. Heck, put the target calories at the center of the scale, bracket them with green, then a yellow zone, and finally a red range. Give a warning if you like. But I'd definitely prefer to be able to enter a real value.

Today, for example, I was caught in a series of meetings. I managed to snag one semi-stale bagel from the back of the room as my only "meal" between 6AM and 6PM. I'll go home tonight and try to have a much mo...

Reply by Maxwell Lamb

Hi Mark,

The idea really is to encourage you to eat within a range - if you eat below the range, then you can give yourself the highest score. We're currently discussing extending, moving, or broadening the range available.

Thanks,

I can appreciate Traneo encouraging me to eat within the desired range, but it seems well, pointless really, to keep me from reporting what I actually ate on a given day.

Is there no way to scroll the scale left or right so I can reach the actual numbers?...

Reply by Maxwell Lamb

Aaron

Thanks for your feedback - we might actually adjust that scale slightly, as it does tend to be a bit on the high side.

As you guessed, it's based upon current weight, height, and sex.

For now, I recommend going for the far right option, and we'll discuss adjustment of the scale, or maybe allowing for some degree of user adjustment, among ourselves - if you or anyone else has any thoughts on that please do let us know!

Thanks,

My problem is with the diet log. For some reason the range on my page for calories is way too high. I rarely eat the minimum listed, much less the maximum. There is no way for me to adjust the scale (I assume this is due to some calculation based upon weight/height/sex). Either a text field or a scale from 0 to the maximum would likely be the best solution. I know it says "2400-" for the smallest,...

Reply by Maxwell Lamb

@Chase
We saw - we've had over 2500 new members in the last few hours, and we've been inundated with suggestions and ideas - we're now going try to implement some of the better ideas, within the next few days.

@Greg
Treadmill running is actually a fair bit lighter than outdoor running - less variation, and you're not actually moving, which also has a considerable impact. Also, treadmills tend to have a fair bit of bounce to them, further reducing the load, but they'...

Reply by Maxwell Lamb

If you've got your height wrong, please just drop me a contact request with the correct height and I'll fix it for you.

Quick question: In My Workouts, do you treat a run on a treadmill the same as a run outside? I run 3-5 miles a day on a treadmill, but wonder if it's fair to equate that with an outside run?

Reply by Chase Cole

Traineo made it to the front page of digg, and you might want to check out the comments posted underneath for numerous suggestions, additions, etc..
