I'm a writer and a web developer. Neither is a very active occupation, so I'm trying now to make up for a lifetime of sedentary activity and overeating. I'm not tracking calories since I'm following the Weight Watchers Core Program, where calories are not tracked.

Any other writers out there? Mostly I write fiction (comic horror, to be precise, along the lines of Christopher Moore or Robert Rankin), and I'm very infrequently published.

I am a contractor for a monolithic IT firm. This translates into a lot of time spent sitting. I have always been a big guy, but I am tired of being obese so I am going to utilize the power of community to hold my feet to the fire to stay active.

In my colorful past I was a poet and a news writer.
For poetry I generally lean toward beat styles. As for the news while Hunter S. Thompson was my icon I was never that flowery.

I am 39 years old. My goal is to be in the best shape of my life in my 40s, in terms of endurance and strength.
I like weight training, cardio cross training (from treadmill running to kickboxing) and above all Yoga.
I like music, movies, reading fiction, travel, exercise. I am vegetarian because I love animals. I love cats best.

Hello Richard,
I am in Information Technology.
But my not-so-secret aspiration is to write (and get published...and paid).
Can you point me to something that you have written that I could read? Your genre sounds like fun!

I'm a 42-year-old graphic designer / computer programmer / information architect / non-profit fundraiser / spiritual teacher / boardgame designer aspiring to become an ordained interfaith minister in the next couple of years in order to provide spiritual counseling.
I have a 20-year-old daughter who's brilliant, lovely, and stunningly creative. I'm currently single and dating, and I seem to be falling in love again, which is wonderful.
I've been overweight since I was 11 or 12, and have lost hundreds of pounds over the years. Two years ago I had an epiphany and at 326 pounds, my all-time high, began to take care of my body. Injuries from an auto accident delayed my continued weight loss until I managed to heal sufficiently in October of 2006. The difficulty still flares up regularly, limiting my exercise, but it's improving all the time, and I'm steadily losing weight nonetheless.
My biggest breakthrough was a couple of months ago when I realized that all of the childhood stuff that had been contributing to my body-image and eating troubles could be forgiven without need to accept or come to terms with them. Forgiveness is as basic as asking yourself if being unhappy about the situation or event is serving you now, and if not, accepting that it's no longer important and moving on.
I'm glad to have found Traineo, as the tools have helped keep me on track and the incredible people in the community have kept me inspired, informed, and ignited!

I write a lot of things like fundraising letters, newsletter articles, press releases, and ad copy, but not in the "professional writer" sense. I am working on a novel, though.

I've been a technical writer for 14 years (although I want to get back into programming now that my kids are older). I've also written (but not yet published) a book on homeschooling. I've also done a fair amount of editing. I write haiku, many of which have been published (mostly in Belgium, where they appreciate haiku that include poppies).

I went through life never realising how overweight I really was! I am now determined to get off my butt and do something about my weight.
I have a great job and a great partner. I'd like my weight to NOT be the sore point.
My biggest challenge is to establish and continue a routine. It's time I stopped making excuses ("creative people don't need discipline") and stopped pretending to be content.

I've been a software technical writer for about 6 years now (hi, Heather!). I *love* my job because it combines my love for writing with my knack for problem-solving and figuring out things.
I also like to write poetry and am trying to be a blogger.

I teach Prealgebra to 7th graders ... yeah they see the need to learn this stuff.
I am also married with three teenagers who have no illusions about the future and know that they have to work their butts off to get into the colleges of their choice. But mom is still just another extension of their lives. I'm running a little thin right now. Just not my weight.
My husband travels, but when he's home we like to ride motorcycles. Yeah!

I'm not a writer, but my brother is aspiring to be. I think his heroes are Glen Cook and Terry Pratchett. I have pre-edited several of his stories. He has taken up the NanWrimo challenge for the past three years (I think). I don't write, but I do like to go there just to see what being written.

My fitness regimen includes stationary cycling, light weight training and lots of walking around NYC. I'm a graduate of WeightWatchers and an enthusiastic advocate of its balanced approach to weight loss. I'm sure that I drink too much coffee and get too little sleep. :)
My goals are to maintain my weight in a healthy BMI/BF % range and forestall the toll of advancing age. :)
I think Traineo's established a great community and appreciate the support and information we share.

I have been encouraging several Train(eo)ers to consider the idea of creating a blog that would celebrate the philosophy and joy of fitness...to put wellness in a broader, almost non-technical context.
Are any of you interested in contributing to such a site? Do you think it would attract readers?
