OK so today I ran Race for Life. For those of you who don't live in England, its basically a 5k run to raise money for the charity Cancer Research UK. Everyone gets a sign to pin on your back that you can write who you are running in memory of & let me tell you, its a mind-blowing experience when you realise that there are over 5000 people around you and each & every one of them has been affected by cancer in one way or another. & that's just one venue - these races take part all over the country.
I already felt good because my fitness level is so much better, my diet is better than it's been in years & so far altogether I've lost over 28 pounds, putting me at lower than the weight I wanted to be. But after doing something like that you realise that obsessing over how much exercise you do & if you ate a cream cake really isn't the most important thing in the world. It has put a lot of things into perspective for me and made me realise (without being too cheesy!) that life is extremely fragile and you should live every moment doing something positive because you never know what could be around the corner for you. I feel fantastic for doing the race for charity first and foremost, but also for the newly positive attitude that I now have.
Just thought I'd share that with you all & I'm sorry if I came of as being too cheesy lol!
